Mojitos in Manhattan at ASIA DE CUBA

by Geisha_Girl - last update: May 27, 2003

Dinner with the New Yorkers!

The Lemon-Drop Girls! (SF and NYC Chapters)
It's Saturday night in New York City. Where, oh where to go??

The VT New Yorkers welcomed me BACK in style! We dined at ASIA DE CUBA, the delicious trendy Asian/Latin American fusion restaurant located in the Ian Schrager Morgan's Hotel on Madison Ave.

In attendance that evening was Kristara (Janet), CJG1 (Chris), and Patrick (Virtualpatrick). I brought two of my good friends to join in the festivities.

Once again, the event proved to be a night filled with friendly chatter....great food......excellent cocktails........and lots and lots of Photos taken! (just your average fabulous VT gathering!)

GEISHA Invades MANHATTAN!!

These Mojitos are ADDICTING Geisha!!

Patrick enjoys Geisha's *Magic Potion*
Fascinating stuff Chris!

You see, mojitos tend to EVAPORATE like that rhum

Chris gives Patrick the "scientific" explanation of how cocktails just seem to "evaporate!"

Watchout! Those Mojitos are LETHAL!

We always seem to ignore the "lessons learned" when it comes to this Cuban concoction.

Pre-dinner cocktails and we consumed....what was it?? 3 or 4 of those in just minutes? Record-breaking!!

One too many mojitos can make you do such funny things.......
Enjoying the Asia de Cuba ambiance
The Lemon-Drop Crew!

.....and new friends were made

Meeting Janet (Kristara) in her hometown was such a treat! She's been on VT for years now, but she mentioned she hardly went to any VT gatherings.

I met Janet through various Forum postings and she had claimed to be an "Energizer Bunny." I thought that was a cute nickname for her, but later realized that it suited her PERFECTLY!! She definitely is a ball of energy and a sweetheart!

She knows Manhattan well and is our *official* LEMON-DROP girl of the New York City chapter!

The "Communal" Table

We dined at the "communal" table they set up in the middle of the dining room at Asia de Cuba.

It's set up so you're dining with other folks....strangers if you will. Well...heck, this is a VT gathering.....we're used to having a blast with "strangers" aren't we?
CJG says: Pssst..ya think we can recruit em to VT?
Proving again that mojitos in Manhattan are LETHAL

Ohh Papa-San!

A mojito ALWAYS taste so much more delicious when you're with good company!

We now have our 4th person for the trip so all is sunny. Night out in NYC the night before leaving for Roatan. I'm sure there will be stories.

The Murakami was cool but I used to love the graffitti LV (back in 2001, I think).Twas light blue graffiti "LOUIS VUITTON"s set on dark material. I just started working, that year & couldn't afford it. It's still somewhere in my brains.
