All the cities have their own "fauna": thousands of special people wander along the streets, squares and parks, and you can meet them just around the corner. Here I introduce some of them.
First of all, Abelardo, the "game-rescuer": with his hat full of birds and his trolley full of ancient toys, this old man brings back the past... and you feel a child once again!
The peanut peddler is a typical character, especially during autumn and winter, when the inviting smell of hot peanut fills the air.
How can I explain what a "churro" is? Well... somthing like a fried bun, made with an odd artefact. The most famous churros are Spaniard, but I can assure that the Uruguayan ones are more delicious!!!! You can eat churros at some tea houses, but the best of all are those you can buy at park stalls, of course!
Another typical peddlers, especially at parks, fairs and open markets, are those who sell maize, like this girl you can see at the picture.
The "car-keepers" are very special technicians who care for your car when you park it at the street in exchange of some coins, but more important than that is their technical advice: they teach you how to drive, how to park, how to... And they can tell you each and every thing that happens at their workarea!!!!
Living statues can be found all over the world... Montevideo is not an exception.
Another living statue... this time with a particular piggy bank.
Nothing less urban than a roughrider... But once a year, Montevideo has its "Semana Criolla" (Native American Week), so this kind of people (and their horses!) can be seen at city streets.
