Travel Tips

Well, there's not enough room is this travelogue for all of them, but I'll dedicate this page to the main people I hang out with these days...I could do another few travelogues on all the people from Ottawa, but I have no more room..

The first guy, my best friend, is Brennen Mackillican.. Brennen and I met in grade 6.. We were both major geeks, sort of outcasts I guess, so naturally we bonded in short order..

When I decided to go to UBC for my undergrad, Brennen came along for the ride (he had no plans whatsoever for university, but didn't want to be in Chilliwack by himself).. so, I take a bit of credit in the fact that he obtained an Arts degree..

Brennen owns a really nice house on the beach in White Rock now, so you'll often find me hanging out on his patio..

Jeff is one of those people with a wicked full name.. Margo and I used to call him JDM3 back in physics 153.. I originally met Jeff back in Enriched Math 10.. We sort of joked around in class all the time, and often made Margo upset by blowing spitballs into her hair.. At the end of the school year in grade 10, Jeff and I traded phone numbers, and ended up hanging out most of the summer..

Jeff is dating another of my good friends (Michele), and currently lives in Kerrisdale.. He's just finishing up his master's degree in Artificial Intelligence at UBC.

I originally met Margo back in grade 10 as well.. Margo was a bit of an oddity, as she was both smart and popular.. I give her a lot of credit for hanging out with guys like me and Jeff, even though we weren't part of the hip crowd.. Through Margo, I actually gained alot of respect in high-school, and by grade twelve, was invited out to all the major 'popular' events as well.. So, thanks Margo..

I've known Michele since grade eight..back in those days, I was a bit of a rebel, and nearly got myself expelled one time doing a practical joke (it turns out that tying a teacher up isn't a good thing to do)..luckily I got my act together around grade nine...

Michele and I used to play tennis a few times a week back in those days.. Now I see her a few times a week: we usually have a coffee once or twice a week while on my way to UBC.. Her and I cut a rug recently down at the Blarney Stone...

Bob was my roommate in first year university.. We hardly talked to each other for the first four months of living together, and in truth, I thought he was kind of a prick back then.. But, around xmas time, when exams were all done, we both had nothing to do, so were forced to hang out..

Now, we're close friends, and own our own consulting company.. Candice is Bob's girlfriend -- she moved here from Ottawa to be with him..

Harveen was this shy east-indian guy on our floor in first year.. no one really talked to him in first year, and he did a good job of keeping to himself.. In second year, he started to come out of his shell.. Once we got Harveen drinking though, things changed, and he turned into a social butterfly..

Harmanpreet and Harveen are getting married on Jun 29, 2003, and I"m in Harveen's wedding party (I was recently fitted for my tradional east-indian outfit.. I'm going to look smashing with my long trousers, and knee-length vest!)..

Ahh Mike Kluth.. the only crazy traveller I know.. Mike drove from Ottawa to Vancouver and back two or three times in the last few years..I don't know how he does it..

I met Mike while working at JDS Uniphase in Ottawa.. It turns out that were both from Vancouver, so we had lots to talk about..When the market tanked, Mike and I packed our bags and came home..

Cory and Mike are both friends from high-school..I see them whenever I'm back in Chilliwack for the weekend.. they will both be coming over this friday for some pre-Pearl Jam drinking...
