Well, I was going through some old boxes tonight, when I came across a box of my old photos.. All of these were taken with my old Canon point-and-shoot camera.. It was really cool to go through all these old photos again, and brought back a lot of cool memories.. I took some of the best ones, and snapped pictures of them using my digital camera.. Looking at these old photos makes me glad I now own a digital.. Many of them were ruined due to some water damage in Ottawa, and most of them had this weird 'blur' to the pictures..
So, here's a trip down Duane's Analog past.. Enjoy! |
| | Grad At the end of June in 1995, Sardis Senior Secondary School teamed up with Chilliwack Senior Secondary School for the annual dry grad. Dry grad is a really big lame party where grads go and spend the night wishing they were somewhere else..
Here's a (bad) picture of me and my friend Landy at dry grad.. |
Susan My first serious relationship was with a girl named Susan that I met in my second year of university.. I spent around a month courting her, and sealed the deal on valentine's day in 1997(we were out at the Pit Pub for her birthday -- while Susan was distracted, Blair and I snuck back to Totem Park where I filled her room with roses).. When we all walked back to Totem later that evening, I said good night, knowing that she'd find the roses in a few minutes.. Well, she did, and showed up at my door shortly therafter, and we had our first kiss..
I learned many valuable lessons with my relationship with Susan. The two most important ones were: 1) Long distaance relationships are extremely tough (I was away for four months that summer).. 2) Nothing worth having comes without effort
We stayed together for 1.5 years, and eventually went our separate ways..
Here's a picture of Susan and I camping at Cultus Lake.. | | | Camping, a few days before I left for Whitehorse |
|
| | Whitehorse, YT I spent the next four months doing software development for Environment Canada in the Yukon..I had a really great time, even though I had a girlfriend a long ways away..
Here's a shot from the plane on my way up to Whitehorse.. |
Formal Graduation Dinner Prior to dry grad, we had a big dinner at the Harrison Hot Springs Hotel.. Unfortunately, we had the crappy room, and Chilliwack Senior had the lavish Copper Room.. So, we were all a bit ticked off..
Here's a picture of Brennen, Landy and I, all decked out in our rented tuxes..
| | Skagway Alaska One day, my friend Marilyn (from Whitehorse) asked me if I wanted to go on a road trip to Alaska.. Of course I said yes!
So, later that day we found ourselves in Skagway Alaska, one of the main destinations for Cruise Ships on Alaskan Cruises.. It was a really cool little town, and they had some great fish and chips..
Here's a shot of me and some (fake) horses! |
Dawson City One weekend, there was the big Dawson City Music Festival in Dawson City, YT.. Dawson City is one of the oldest cities in Canada, and was home to some of the gold rush fever.. Canada's first casino emerged here...
Here's a picture taken from the start of the Demster Highway, looking back towards Dawson City..
