Ballarat Architecture 1

by Kate-Me - last update: Oct 22, 2005

My favourite building,

Sebastiaans Coffee shop/restaurant. There's a lot of detail around the windows , in the form of stone carved heads (see below)
Town Hall from top of Sturt St
Former Union Hotel, 1860's
Another historic building, now a hairdressers. Note the figures on the roof - made a little indistinctly, but they're an emu and a Kangaroo.
Once the Old Ballarat Gaol, now SMB (School of Mines - and a campus of Ballarat University)
Statue of the Virgin Mary at the Ballarat Old Cemetery, Cnr Macarthur St & Creswick Rd (about 3 kms from the city centre, heading north)
Edwardian Rotunda in the background, which is just inside the main entrance.
St Patrick's Cathedral, Dawson Street South

Have been to sovereign hill a couple of times, enjoyed it both times, looks like we will have to go back, by your reviews, they are adding more & more.

Your HP popped up from VTHP to find that where Ballarat is in Aust. You have interesting places. I have a friend in Mellbourn which seems not far. Thanks for telling me about this city.
