Today Tuesday 9 May, we have another hike on the program, and with that day 13 of our holiday is started. This hike starts at the parking of la Cubana and the track is running next to a calm stream, the track is flatter and easier then the one that we did yesterday in the "Topes de Collantes".

The first proposal was to go on horseback for 30 a 40 minutes, but because some of us didn't liked it to go by horse. So we could do also an alternative boat-trip, we when we saw where it was, we declined and choose just to walk. The walk itself is very interesting and it shows you a lot of nice places. We see a shed that they are building and so you can see the structure much better.

We see the wooden posts and the skeleton of the roof. Against this they will add the dry leafs of the kings-palm, this will provide an excellent waterproof cover. Again we get some good explanation from our guide Debis, who does a very good job.

After an hour walk we here in the distance the noise of a waterfall and soon it catches our eye. She is not as high as the one we saw yesterday, but this one ends her fall into a small pound that is inviting us to swim. But first we climb a bit higher between the trees to get above the waterfall. We rest a little while and eat a few cookies, these where still left from yesterday evening.

After relaxing a while we go down to the pound and the refreshing water. It are again the same people who jump in: Wim, Nele, Marijke, John and me. The 4 of us (without John) are swimming towards the deeper area towards the waterfall. We go into a small cave were there is a big rock where we can stand.

The warmish water is refreshing, but it amazes me that in the open air this streaming water is not ice cold. The rest that radiates from this surrounding is a big contrast with the city Santiago de Cuba that we are going to visit tomorrow.

After this refreshing swim, we put our clothes back on and walk back to the begin point of the track. Our guide Delbis proposes to drop the boat trip and to go today to the Valley des Ingenios. See my travelogue The Valley des Ingenios We will save at least one hour tomorrow because we don't need to make a detour to get into the Valley. This proposal is accepted and the boat trip falls now in the water. We hear also that the horse trip uses the same walking path as we did, so we were glad that we didn't go for that. After a drink we go toward the Valley des Ingenios.
