Poland's main port city Gdansk is a city that is situated on the coast of the Baltic sea.
It is Poland's 6th largest city with a population of 456,600 people (2000).
It is known as the birthplace of Solidarity and is a city of great arcitectural importance.
It recieves over 1 million tourists a year- largly due to it's great location.
Some of the famous landmarks that are worth seeing include the Dlugi Targ (a famous street), the Trojmiejski Park krajobrazowy (just to the west of the city), and the medevil crane (Europe's oldest)
The rebiechowo airport is located approx. 20 km south-west of Gdansk and serves EuroLOT and Polish LOT Airlines. It is Poland's 3rd largest airport after Krakow's Balice and Warsaw's Okecie airport. |
