by mr.jacob - last update: May 17, 2003

Poland's capital from the 11th to the 16th century

The Sukiennice
Krakow is a vibrant city that provides it's visitors a great historical experience. It recieves 2 million toursits a year and is situated at the fotthills of the Carpathian mountains.
It has a population of 741,500 people (2000) which makes it the 3rd largest city in Poland after Lodz and Warsaw,
It developed largely thanks to the Wisla River (Poland's longest river)- which cuts right though the city.
Some of the arcitecture that is worth seeing includes the second largest castle in Poland - the Wawel castle, the Wisla River, The Sukiennice, the Jagiellonian University, St.Mary's church, and the Market Square.
The closeby Babice airport serves flights from Karkow to Warsaw, Zurich, Dusseldorf, and Wroclaw. Swissair, Polish LOT Airlines, and EuroLOT are some of the airlines that are served by the airport- which is the second largest in Poland.
