Trips around the Bay Area

by PetraG - last update: Jun 25, 2003

Yosemite National Park

Yosemete National Park
If you like nature and want to relax or find out more about the indian culture, you have to make a trip to this park. If you like camping or just driving through in your car - don't matter everything is great here! But even if you haven't got much time to spend, have a little rest on one of the lakes or at Yosemite village (where people really live!!!). I cannot remember anything more relaxing!
Mammoth Lakes

Mammoth Lakes

Coming from San Francisco go straight through the Yosemity National Park and right behind it you'll find this nice little village in the Rocky mountains. Famous for it's skiing areas and the olympic winter games that were held there. Looks a bit like a typical Austrian mountain village. The surrounding is amazing, with many little lakes, great nature and high mountains!

Muir Woods

An enourmous forest full of giant Redwood-trees. It's amazing to walk through it and look up to the tree-tops. You feel so small and unemportant. Really amazing!
Go over the Golden Gate Bridge in north direction.
Oakland

Oakland

Just go over the Oakland/San Francisco-Bay Bridge (to come back, you have to pay a 2$-fee) and you'll visit an extraordinary city full of great architecture and beautiful landscapes around.
Great for shopping!
But ye sure you'll head back in time, because it'll take you about 1 hour to get back over the bridge in the evening traffic!!

Big Sur - Highway No. 1

This amazin route leads you from San Frnacisco South to Los Angeles, San Diego and Mexico.
Breath-taking views makes it hard not to stop at every 100 meters!
Big Sur

Sausalito

Cute little village in the north of San Francisco where many painters and other artists live. Have a rest here when you do a trip to the Muir Woods. It's on your way!
