A CHAMPION day at Goodison!

by vichatherly - last update: Oct 7, 2006

We have OUR trophy back

Fergie and Blanc with OUR trophy
Place: Goodison Park, Liverpool home of Everton FC
Date: 12 May 2003, kick off 3pm (which made a change)
Event: Collecting another FA Premiership trophy

A splendid day had by all, except for the scousers. A few pre-match drinks to loosen up the vocal chords and discuss how we all celebrated winning the league the previous Sunday.
Scholes in charge in midfield

Another three points

A great football match, in which the champions strutted their stuff. ; Even to the extent of letting Everton take the lead. The scores were quickly levelled by a typically brilliant Becks free kick. Nice to see him sprint the full length of the pitch to celebrate in front of us United fans in the corner.

A few post were rattled before Ruud was pulled down in the box and the obligatory penalty was scored.

When Johnny Goes Marching Down the Wing...

The party then went into full swing with every song being sung with gusto. Even though O’Shea had been subbed at halftime, his “Johnny goes marching” sing was still the No.1 choice. Eric got a good mention though, along with Keano. Fergie responded to our “give us a wave “ whilst and Keano gave us a brilliantly funny scowl as his response to the same request.

It was then that the matador “Ole’s” began. It must have been ten minutes before another Everton player touch the ball and the middle section of head tennis between Scholes and Fotune, in the centre circle was just taking the p**s, brilliant.
Ruud shapes up to hit the post
Players lifting the trophy

Prize giving time

The match finished. The trophy giving ceremony was special as each player took his turn, after Keano, to lift the cup, culminating with SAF lifting it high and the fireworks and confetti hit the sky. It seemed to me that the players had their own agenda on how the were going to celebrate, even though the TV men and associated press wanted them to do things in a certain order and in front of certain advertisement hoardings

Post Match Celebrations

Plenty of mucking about by the players, with Larry White being given the honour of being lifted up on the shoulders of the rest of the squad. Ruud and Rio seemed to be enjoying themselves and not wanting the celebrations to stop. The police and stewards wanted them to go back to the dressing rooms but as they were being ushered away they broke ranks with Rio managing to throw his boots in to the crowd and Ruud sprinting over to throw his shirt to some lucky red!
Let me lift it!
John O'Shea goes up for the trophy

Another sucessful season

Arrived home at 03.30 am this morning and took a few hours sleep. Another season over too quickly, but at least after a few week rest it will be off to the States for the pre season tour.

Rumble in the pub

My mate Craig, who gave me some awful grief about where I'd hidden the minibus after ther the game, gets his come uppence!
What you need is a dry slap
The wanderer returns

Tricky goes for a walk to clear his head

Tricky returns after being somehow caught up in the police escort, walking all the way to Lime Street.

Does he look like a hoolie??

Hmm...don't really remember that much about Eindhoven, but I'm sure you'll find a good bar there. Enjoy the match! And merci for Arcachon!
