We walked a lot in Havana, from our dancing house we are going here in the direction of the Malecon, the street next to the Street of Florida. It’s a nice day for walking and here you see Jean and our guide Marinette.

Going to the Malecon

You see a lot of statues and old houses. But also parks and the official buildings in the background and every where we were seeing pictures of Elian and his brother.

People swimming at the Malecon

On the Malecon there are always a lot of people walking of cars riding on and off. We see also people swimming there. We witnessed a tourist buying the swim-shorts of a Cuban boy. He wanted to have a swim and he didn’t has his swimsuit with him. So he negotiated with that Cuban boy and he both his swim shorts. After that he went for a swim with the Cubans. The might of the dollar.

A fisherman caught a shark - Havana

Where people are swimming at one end you see a fisherman on his rubber band bringing a shark on shore. A fellow fisherman is helping him. They go onto the ocean in the night and when they catch something they are peddling back to the shore, were they bring their catch on land. And he caught a shark.

Houses next to the Malecon

The houses around the Malecon are a bit in decay, this is because nobody spends money to renovate their house. It gives the impression of walking through a poor neighbourhood.

Newer buildings of Havana seen from the Malecon

When you look into the horizon, you see the modern city of Havana, the higher buildings. We didn’t see that area of the city we stayed here.
