Cecilia's Amazing Travel Tips: http://home.wanadoo.nl/c.a.obertop/travel/tips.htm
Boots-n-All: A cool site run by some guys who live out in the West US. It's got loads of tips, stories, and information, and the opportunity to join, and become an "insider," available for advice to people who might be travelling to your neck of the woods... http://www.bootsnall.com/cgi-bin/gt/index.shtml
Budget Travel (Under $25 a day): http://www.artoftravel.com/ |
| The Guard Says "NO PICTURE!!" |
| | Travel Literature "It will be so awful, it will be wonderful," by Jet City Jimbo and the Spousal Unit, Suebee: http://jetcityjimbo.com/awful_wonderful/index.shtml This is one of the best accounts of overland travel I've found. It chronicles the 9 month journey from London to Central Asia, across the Sahara, and through Africa. The account of something like 45 days struggling to get through Zaire is frightfully entertaining...THAT is an accomplishment to envy (though an experience that was rather unpleasant at times...). Check it out, as well as their sequel, all on line.
Blazing A Trail: Another online travel journal, sort of like the one above. http://www.blazingatrail.com/
Vagablogging: Rolf Potts, who wrote the great book, "Vagabonding," has a great site as well. A "blog," it's a mix of commentary, stories, pictures, views...very interesting. http://www.vagablogging.net/ |
Destinations CIA Factbook: Great information on all the world's countries http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/index.html
U.S. Department of State: Travel advisories. Check before you go. http://travel.state.gov/travel_warnings.html
Lonely Planet Thorn Tree: Post a message, and get the latest on where you're going. http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.com/
Afghanistan: http://www.afrikamedia.com/afghanistan.htm
Belize: Site on Mayan Ruins (Lamanai, in Belize): http://mayaruins.com/lamanai.html
The Travelers Century Club: How many countries have you been to? http://www.travelerscenturyclub.org/
Where is Raed? Very interesting "blog" by a guy in Baghdad. Gives an intriguing account of Operation Iraqi Freedom from someone on the other end, inside of Baghdad. Updated daily (though it was down a lot during the war). http://dear_raed.blogspot.com/
Iceland Air: Cheapest way to Europe http://www.icelandair.com/
Peshawar, Pakistan: Haven't been there, but found a cool page with some interesting pictures. http://www.tribalmax.com/vj/vjtravelsjan2002.html
| Market in Moulay Idriss, Morocco |
| | Gear and Stuff Campmor www.campmor.com
Great Deals on clothes, equipment, etc.: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/default.asp
REI Coop www.rei.com
Eastern Mountain Sports www.ems.com |
Miscellaneous Not sure where to put this one...it's a llittle bit travel literature, a little bit information about Afghanistan, and a little bit of ramblings by a guy who seems to have a chip on his shoulder, and a conspiracy theory. It is definitely interesting, though http://www.ishipress.com/pakol.htm
