DO YOU WANNA SEE SOME VIDEOS ?

by coceng - last update: Mar 21, 2007

MY DIGITAL VIDEOS
So you wanna see some videos ?
We all know that our digital cameras can also take short videos.
I knew that but I didn't know how to share these videos with people.
NOW I know !

I am finding a new way to share some of the places that I have been to with you guys. Instead of showing off my photos, I thought it would be great to be able to show some 'moving images' or short videos as these short videos would give better insights of what I want to show.

Without further ado, I present some of my short videos here.
These are external links where you can read about the videos first instead of jumping straight to the video pages, watching them without knowing anything about what you see !
Most of these short videos now have narrations on them so you get to hear from sweet & sexy voice as well ! Ha !

17th August 2006 :
Tracing my steps from taking the LRT in Kuala Lumpur, stopped by Central Market; What I did in my room & sights around Masjid Tanah, my hometown.
12 VIDEOS

23rd August 2006 :
Taken around One Utama Shopping Complex (the complex where I work); We get to see the sights around this huge complex.

You MUST have Macromedia Flash Player 8 to view the videos...

BEST MEMORIES...
Here I shall list the places that give me lovely & sweet memories of myself being there ! They are not in any order of course; Click on them to see the pages :
Vienna - All the elegant architectures are enough for me to be cradled by this city ! Staying with 2 friends right in the middle of Innere Stadt (the First District) made me safe lots of money on accomodation alone !
Brussels - My first European city welcomed me with an open arm ! For me it was the chance to learn or rather to cope about European weathers, about European foods, about European people ! There's a first on everything in this life & Brussels was just that !
Dubrovnik - The best destination in Croatia ! Private coves everywhere ! Chaep accomodations ! Dubrovnik's ancient walls offer scenic views over the the Mediteranean sea ! 'Nuff said !
Bled - The most beautiful place in Slovenia ! An islet in the middle of the lake ! Surrounded by mountains, green all over ! Touristy maybe but sheer beautiful nonetheless...
Wroclaw - Pronounced Vrots-waf in Poland, is so enchanting ! Laidback, with one of the most beautiful Town Squares that I have ever seen in my life !
Amsterdam - Spent a wekend there & it's enough for me to 'know' this city ! I love it ! The canals, the nightlife (ahem !)...Yet more for me to discover next time I reach here !
Pisa - Of course Pisa is NOT just about the (leaning) tower ! Managed to go up the top of the tower made me feel so fulfilling indeed as a traveller !

HIKINGS...

So, this is the list of places where I had been doing a little bit of hikings to reach them ! I love walking, love seeing the surroundings towards reaching the places...
Cachtice Hrad - In Slovakia; A castle ruin lived by Elizabeth Bathory, the so-called FEMALE DRACULA because she loved drinking blood of virgin girls ! Accompanied by Marek, my first venture into hiking; Seeing the ruralness of Slovakia added the bonus of this first ever hiking experience !
Tatra Mountains - In south of Poland, I hiked (accompanied by lots of students & senior citizens, although we didn't really know each others !) in one area of Tatra Mountain Range to see Lake Morskie Oko ! My first sight of (melting) snow ! The scenery was so amazingly beautiful !
Gdynia - In north of Poland; First I reached Gdansk, then Sopot...beautiful towns by The Baltic Sea; Then hiking along the beach to Gdynia ! Sea washing my tired feet, sand stucked all over my pants ! Another amazing experience for me !
Smlednik - Deep in Slovenia & I felt it was in the middle of nowhere ! ; Hiking to this campground was almost a challenge for me ! Sun was going down, almost dark ! Attacked by insects...A Gypsy family cooked a meal for me ! How many people can boast of this truly wonderful experience ?
Triglav National Park - Again in Slovenia; From Bled, I wanted to see The Vintgar Gorge, so I hiked to the place ! I went in deeper among the dense trees..., got lost & it was such a memorable 'lost' experience ! Came out to a small village...
A family drove me back where I started from (the end of Vintgar Gorge) & from there I took the right path...hiked back to Bled !
Plitvice National Park - This was just a small hike, 2 hours or so...The place itself like a paradise ! Lots of small & big waterfalls. I had to leave this place hence couldn't continue deeper...because I had to take my bus ( another 2 hours wait !...) back to where I left my luggage !

MISHAP ADVENTURES...

Mishap adventures ? Yes...things that happened to me unexpectedly, without planned !
No, I'm not looking forward to 'mishap adventures' that often because I'm afraid that I couldn't handle certain situations anyway but here below are some of the sweetest ones :
Budapest - I planned to stay in Budapest for only a few days but money was running really low on me. Alain, whom I met on the Net let me stay at his place as long as I wanted while he's away in France ! Alain took me to my first Classical concerts (2 concerts !) & The Bath Houses in Budapest ! While he's away, Doru from Romania took me on another excursions around Budapest ! Feeling real good ! ...And everything was not planned !
Bomarzo - I planned to reach Bomarzo, the so-called 'Lost Renaissance Garden' in rural Italy but little that knew that I would put myself in a fun test where people didn't speak English, buses were scarce & I had to drag my luggage miles downhill to reach the garden & then miles uphill ! All these were in the middle of the hottest summer in 200 years !
Civita de Bagnoregio - Again in Italy, on the same day I arrived in Bomarzo ! Scarce buses again...reaching 'The Hanging Village of Civita de Bagnoregio' at dawn...Explored the place, no tourists which was super great ! Had to book an expensive accomodation which resembled a doll room ! I slept like a baby with the most brilliant service by Madam Puccini...Everything was not planned but everything just flowed elegantly for me in this 'lost' place !
Luxembourg City - The mishap adventure here was that I got lost in The Casmates ! Dark & cold...Thank God, I'm not claustrophobic ! Feeling that I was trapped in time centuries ago...I was with a friend though.
Jablanac - I planned to reach Rab Island, along The Dalmatia in Croatia; Little that I knew that the midnight bus would stop me in the middle of nowhere, at 2 AM ! I had to hike downhill miles down to catch the ferry...Stopped by the Croatian Police when I took comfort at a Petrol Kiosk...I felt that I could write a book on this experience alone !

MY MUSIC COLLECTIONS

SHOEGAZER
I am a SHOEGAZER ! Always will be ! Shoegazing music ONLY exists in the end of 80's & early 90's; Sadly many fake American bands still carry this tradition...& going nowhere !
Shoegazing music was enormously loud, yet it still manages to sound withdrawn, with infectious, blissful melodies buried beneath eardrum-shredding layers of guitar feedback. Vocals and instrumental sounds co-exist with one another to create this music so blissful, serene & so so beautiful...to these ears !

HOW DID I DISCOVER THIS 'SHOEGAZING' MUSIC ?
CREATION RECORDS One of the 'indie' labels which started me into 'the other world'...Read about some of my favourite bands (of whom don't mean a toss to today's kids...which is great !); See some of the 'anthologies' released by this label...

RIDE : One of the bands on Creation Records; Noisy stuffs...which none of you would like anyway but I love them to boot !

ROUGH TRADE SHOP SEARCH ENGINE : Rough Trade is a shop where I normally search for some 'indie' albums that I want to buy...
NINA SIMONE (AUDIO SAMPLES)
Okay, sooner or later you guys will come across an artist that you have heard of on my pages. Comfortable now?
I love Nina Simone! Very Very Much!
Sadly she's passed away...leaving us her songs to lull us to keep on living!
Her forte lies in her ability to be political & romantic at the same time within her piano-playing, within her music, within her lyrics.
I bought the pictured CD in Berlin because on this CD, all her fave songs are crammed into one.
This is her Official Website; Another great PAGE on The Great Nina Simone....

RED HOUSE PAINTERS (AUDIO SAMPLES)
One band that I love most coming from America is RED HOUSE PAINTERS...Their music would make you fall asleep ! Yup, it's that bad...Mark Kozelek does that to me many times; Mark Kozelek also did his first acting in the movie ALMOST FAMOUS !...
BRYAN FERRY / ROXY MUSIC (AUDIO SAMPLES)
This is the ONLY album I own by the guy....I am not even into Roxy Music!
There are not many albums these days which could capture the essence of the long gone jazz era from the 30's or 40's....We are forced to take out Ella's, Billie's, Louis'.....
Norah Jones & Diana Krall are too pitch-perfect for these ears & they always sound like they are just 'jumping on the bandwagon'.....if you know what I mean...
..but this album by Bryan Ferry stands out because there's no layered studio tones/trickery to it...everything is almost recorded live ..but it's not a live album!!!
We could actually hear the guy move around, smoking his cigarette. Catching his breath in between songs & the musicians sound like they are who's who from the long gone jazz era !
It is after all an album choked full of jazz songs we are very familiar with..but it's brave enough for Ferry to sing them & get away from the scornful critics !
If you want to know about the guy, well you can click on HERE & the ROXY MUSIC SITE......

PERE UBU (AUDIO SAMPLES)
PERE UBU is the name of a band whose boxset purchased by me ! Their music was described as AVANT-GARAGE; Whatever that could mean to you guys I don't care but for serious music fan would want to check their site if you click on their band name above...

THE CHARLOTTES
Another gnarly guitar band that I love ! Very rare now; More famous in Japan than in UK...Check them OUT LOUD !...
Some SARAH bands that I love; (Click on their albums for 'audio samples') :
LE JARDIN DE HEAVENLY by HEAVENLY
WHERE'D YOU LEARN TO KISS THAT WAY ? by THE FIELD MICE
