This is KC's best-known and most frequently photographed fountain. It is located between Broadway and Main Streets at the east entrance to the Country Club Plaza. Named for the far-sighted developer who created this area, the country's first suburban shopping center, the park area around the fountain is a great place to relax, watch families at play, lovers embracing, political activists picketing, and street-corner evangelists at work. |
| | Muse of the Missouri Muse of the Missouri pays tribute to the Missouri River and its role in the early development of Kansas City. It sits at the corner of Main and 8th Streets, a short distance from one of the key river landings. |
| | Henry Block Fountain This fountain is programmed to put on a real water spectacular - complete with sounds. Especially fun to watch at night. Named for Henry Block of H&R Block, a Kansas City Company.
Sits in front of Union Station. Liberty Memorial can be seen in the background. I hope to get back on a day with a blue sky for a better photo. |
| Tribute to KC firefighters. |
| | To our finest... The plaque reads "Dedicated on honor of those firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty, and to all those firefighters who daily dedicate themselves to the protection of our lives and property."
Fountain is located on 31st Street between Broadway and Southwest Trafficway. |
| | Calder at Crown Center This colorful Alexander Calder sculpture graces the grounds of Crown Center and the Westin Hotel and the intersection of Grand and Pershing Avenues. |
| | Diana, Roman Godess of the Moon Diana, surrounded by cherubs and flowers, rests in front of a 56 foot wide waterfall. Located at the corner of Ward Parkway and Wornall Road in the Country Club Plaza. |
| | Pomona Fountain Pomona, goddess of vinyards and orchards, sculpted by Italian artist Donatello Gabbrielli, represents the "sustenance and richness that comes from the earth." From Gabbrielli's original only two figures have been made - this bronze and a marble carving that stands in the king's palace, Bangkok, Thailand. |
| Kaufmann Memorial Gardens Fountain |
| | Playful Girls Fountain with sculptures is centerpiece of the Ewing and Muriel Kauffman Memorial Gardens. Located at Rockhill Road and Brush Creek. |

"Thanx | cmk7387 Sat Mar 13, 2004 13:57 UTC Just back (3/10/04) from KC. Went to Jardine's for a steak and jazz, wasn't disappointed. Food was good (KC strip, 8 of 10) and local microbrew (Boulevard Pale Ale, an 8). Music was by the KC Youngbloods, group of college age musicians, very good. |
