My Home = Part II

Great Central Railway

Which way, left or right ?
This is the Great Central Railway, formally a line which ran from Sheffield to London, it opened in 1899 with the logo " RAPID TRAVEL" and finally ceased all routes in 1966.
Today it is used by walkers, and dog walkers, cyclists, horse riders, joggers and more, there is also en-route the Grand Union Canal and the river soar to your left, a nature reserve to the right, a BMX Track further down, and alot of wildlife.
This is a great place to come on a lazy sunday afternoon, and I'm so glad I found this house, cause I have all this on my doorstep.
Canal & Locks

First Tow Path

Walking across the field and down the tow path brings you to the 1st lock, and luckily we found not 1 but 2 boats in their.
What made me laugh was that the women were doing all the hard work and the old boys just sat there ! Must admit, they did help....Abit !

Where the Union meets the Soar

This is the Soar Valley Way bridge, its hard to believe that above this bridge is 4 lanes of fast flowing traffic and yet below is a canal and the river.
To the left is the River Soar and to the right is the Grand Union Canal.
River to your left, Canal to your right
Stolen from ASDA

Every Little Helps !

There is always some place that you'll find a dumped trolley in a canal, and here is NO exception, its sucj a shame as 1 piece of equipment makes the whole area look a mess. Some people just don't care.

Homeward Bound

Long shot view of what would of been the Great Central, hard to believe trains used to travel along here all those years ago.
Never ending !
Totem pole arrowing your route

Local Art

This totem pole was done by a local group of school children, and on each level it tells you which way it is to a certain place and how many miles, its pretty and different.

Woods To Rear Of House

These are the woods that contain a lovely walkway through onto the park. Its a great place for walking dogs and Missy loves it !
If you go that way, keep an eye out for the woodpeckers.
Our local walk
No more walkies please !

Homeward Bound

Poor liyyle Missy, she is absolutely exhausted here, she had trouble keeping up with us !
