The Power of Travel

My Harem
I went on a Windjammer Cruise for my 30th birthday (almost 6 years ago!) -- it was a Singles Cruise, talk about instant chaos! The minute I stepped on board I met 4 guys that stuck with me the entire week... we went everywhere but the bathroom together. St. Barth's was the last island we hit, and by then we were forever bound by deep affection. We rented a jeep and bounced all over the island. Had breakfast on a deserted beach that involved a hair raising descent (I can look up all the specifics for you if you like) -- cheese, fruit, bread and water. Then bounced around some more, did some shopping, and stumbled upon a neat looking restaurant. It had a pool infront of the bar and since we were still covered in sand and salt water we asked if we could take a dip if we ordered drinks. We enjoyed the place so much we stayed for lunch. $300 later (we all ordered lobster, and the guys fought for the bill) we headed to the runway -- a sight to be seen... the world's shortest. Planes come through a dip in the mountain range and then immediately touch down, slamming on their brakes or ending up in the water (I REALLY need to scan my photos and post them!). There are cars on the island that have tread marks on the roof from being at the top of the hill when a plane comes in to land! Then to back to town to shop more -- the guys bought Tag watches and a ring for me to thank me for such a great trip... one of the guys bought an expensive bottle of wine but not a corkscrew so we snapped the neck off on a curb and drank straight out of the bottle (how chic) as the sun set, toasting our friendship. The sun set and we hit Le Select for a big party that spilled out into the street, the traffic had to go around us. AMAZING TRIP. Memories that will never fade. AND I'm still in touch with 3 of the guys - visited all 3, went to 2 of their weddings and am honorary aunt to one's twins. The power of travel.

This photo was snapped as we lay on the beach at Anse du Gouverneur... yes, it belongs to me. And even at 36 it still looks the same...
