Otway National Park and Great Ocean Road (west of Geelong)

Here are some brief impressions of the holiday:

Soft, damp, temporate rainforest in hills stretching down to meet the sea. Tall, thick fronded tree ferns which at night harbour tiny glow worms, clinging to the undersides, winking like tiny bright stars in a darkness punctuated only by torchlight.

Standing at the Johanna beach lookout platform in the evening, watching the sunset turn the white sand pink, then tinging the water, to finally disappear below the horizon below the water.
Looking up into the clear dark night sky with only a sliver of cresent moon, the Milky Way right above us.

Lying in our little dome tent camped behind the sand dunes, hearing the crashing surf pound loudly until finally we are lulled to sleep.

The sun disappears

Wandering the little beach resort of Apollo bay with its trendy cafes and seaside souvenir shops.

Driving through the Otway Ranges, around all the tight bends as we climb upwards and leave the ocean and town far below us, as we head for home.

Briefly discovering a 'new' little Lake and camping area deep into the rainforest that we'd never heard of before, and planning to return there soon to explore more of its soft leafy charm, peace and tranquility and wonderful birdlife
