Part 1

Rating on a scale of 1(Worst) - 5(Best).

Singapore Airlines: Penang International > Singapore Changi, Hong Kong Kai Tak > Singapore Changi, Singapore Changi > Bangkok Don Muang, Singapore Changi > Denpasar Ngurah Rai > Singapore Changi, San Francisco > Incheon > Singapore Changi, Frankfurt > New York JFK, Singapore Changi > Beijing Capital, Singapore > Hanoi Noi Bai > Singapore, Singapore > Delhi > Singapore, Singapore > Beijing Capital > Singapore, Singapore > Johannesburg > Singapore
Upon flying back to Singapore from Hong Kong in June 1997 (just before the Handover), service was not bad, but not excellent either. Food was average. Very smooth ride. Feels like the plane is stationary throughout the flight. Wide range of toiletries in the toilet. Cologne, Aftershave, Eau de Toilette, different kinds of soap etc. I had fun mixing those in the toilet! Hope to fly with my national carrier again but it's just so expensive.
Rating: 4

Malaysia Airlines: Kuala Lumpur Subang > Singapore Changi, Johor Senai > Kuching International > Johor Senai
Took a domestic flight to and from Johor's Senai/Sultan Ismail Airport and Kuching, Sarawak, service was excellent. They deserved the Best Cabin Crew award even though that was years before they got it. Had Beef Pie. Sedap ('Delicious' in Malay)! A friend vomitted into the air sickness bag and they took it away immediately without any hint of disgust. Another friend was flying for the first time and panicked about her blocked ears, they brought her some sweets for her to suck and reassured her that blocked ears on flights are normal. What can I say. I'm impressed, even though it was just a short 1hour and 15minute domestic flight.
Rating: 4.5

Garuda Indonesia: Singapore Changi > Medan Polonia > Singapore Changi
Back in 1993, average service and the airline wasn't properly pressurised and gave everyone excruciating earaches! Couldn't enjoy my meal then. Quite a bit of turbulence for 1hour and 10minutes flight. Garuda should be much better now.
Rating: 2.5

Cathay Pacific: Singapore Changi > Hong Kong Kai Tak, Bangkok Don Muang > Karachi Jinnah, Singapore Changi > Hong Kong Chep Lap Kok > Los Angeles > Hong Kong Chep Lap Kok > Singapore Changi
Pretty yummy food. Had the unforgettable Prawn Noodles. Service is not bad. Not as good as Singapore Airlines then (1997). Should be on par now. Turbulences are inevitable but it had to happen when I was in the toilet. The plane dipped and I was thrown off my toilet seat and crashed against the door (how embarrassing!). The stewardesses rushed over and asked if i'm alright and fussed over me when I came out. Neat.
Rating: 3.5

Asiana Airlines: Singapore Changi > Seoul Kimpo > Pusan Kimhae > Jeju > Seoul Kimpo > Singapore
Pretty stewardesses who resemble intricate porcelain dolls. :-) Professional and attentive service . Lots of turbulence though, probably due to the monsoon season. Including one that dipped quite a bit (fortunately no one was hurt). Nice food. Their toilets on the way back smelt a ltitle stale as compared to the other airlines. Think it's due to the spilt coke. Can also get quite stuffy in the cabin though. Poor air-conditioning?
Rating: 3.5

All Nippon Airways: Singapore Changi > Osaka Kansai, Tokyo Narita > Singapore Changi, New York JFK > Tokyo Narita
This one had pretty crew too and were very polite and hospitable. They made everybody feel comfortable and at home. In-flight entertainment from Singapore to Osaka Kansai sucks. After airing one movie, Insomnia, (with the common screen in front of every sub-cabin and you have to stretch your neck like a crane to watch) it was lights out. All activity ceases. Everybody just goes to sleep. zzZz. My cousin and I were the only passengers awake and planning our itinerary for the day of arrival. The flight back from Tokyo Narita to Singapore was much better. They played movies and shows throughout. Spotless toilets!
Rating: 3.5

Part 2

Emirates Airlines: Singapore Changi > Dubai > London Gatwick, Paris Charles de Gaulle > Dubai > Singapore
Multinational crew, which was very refreshing. My first time flying with my own personal tv screen! Some of the controllers are spoilt. Had to miss out on some of the 18 exciting games they have to offer, especially Trivia. Great food flying out of any destination but with pretty average service. Cabin crew took almost 25 minutes to respond to the call button! Comfortable seats with adjustable headrests. Cabin temperature's quite low though, making it pretty chilly! Provides Polo mints in toilet.
Rating: 4

Easyjet Airlines: London Gatwick > Edinburgh, Edinburgh > London Luton, Madrid Barajas > Geneva Cointrin
Being a no-frills airline, there were no seat allocation and no meals were served. Planes left on-time. Cabins (even the toilets!) were well-maintained as compared to other major airlines. Superb service for a no-frills airline. Very friendly cabin crew. Free Easyjet monthly magazine which was a good read.
Rating: 4

Qantas Airways: Singapore Changi > Perth International > Singapore Changi, Singapore Changi > Sydney Kingsford Smith > Christchurch, Christchurch > Sydney Kingsford Smith
Very professional service and some matronly-stewardesses then. I was only 4 but I remembered the attention that was showered on me. They played finger puppets with me. Their Kids Meal was great! When flying back from Perth to Singapore, the plane experienced problems and had to return to Perth. We were given an extra night's stay at a 5-star hotel and even shopping vouchers. If only that will happen more often! (kidding there.)
The second time I flew with them was on my trip to NZ South Island and Sydney, NSW, Australia. The cabin crew on the flight from Singapore to Sydney were less than friendly and some of them seemed to be sulking throughout the flight.
The 'Call button' assistance were prompt and immediate unlike that of Emirates which can take more than 20 minutes at times. The meals were excellent though.

Rating: 4

British Airways: Sydney Kingsford Smith > Singapore Changi
Genial and genuinely hospitable cabin crew... a nice change from the Qantas experience.
The cabin was terribly stuffy and several passengers were feeling rather hot and bothered including myself.
