The Lonely planet guide book did very little to convince me of this place before I arrived. But I still encouraged my other wise easily missguided cluster of common sense and procceded to embark on a journey into China none the less. Boring, was the first word from the guide book that jumped out and scared me for boring is not in my vocab at all. I was worried. How ever I had also agreed to work here so I had little choice but to seek out the fun where ever it may be. It was to be found in a little bar hapily called "FRIENDS CLUB" tucked neatly in behind the international hotel and frequented by a vast variety of foriegners. Germans and Italian and Aussies and Canadians.. Alll walks of life.
If drinking beer and chatting to travel bug strangers is not your scene, rent a bike and head south. Just less than an hour away from the city the land scape changes and I am transported away to some desert outback with cascading waterfalls and resiviours everywhere. It is like a picture. So in retrospect the Lonely planet may be the No1 source for information, however I say if you want to know about a place just sink into it.
