"Koh Phangan: party AND chillout" Thailand Travelogue by joh28

At fullmoon party, every dancing thai and tourist visits Koh Phangan. Unfortunately, some of the 10.000 (!!!) and more people at Haad Rin (South-East corner) come for drug-using, what demanded additional policemen (civil and uniform!) 2 days before, during, and after the 3-day-parties..... So keep off taking drugs with you or consuming public (on the beach, in the bars, etc. etc.), you will get serious problem, when drugs are found in your pockets!!!!!!!!

But, Koh Phangan also can be very quiet or beach-lilfe like (Had Yao), where coral-snorkeling is very easy - also at low-tide -, but the lots of people coming there let some rich Chinese build every square meter full with high-end bungalows, at Had Yaow, for example...

More quiet smoker´s delight can be found 2 beaches norhern Hat Kruat. There´s no swimming (just rocks in the beach!!!), but chillout for 1 day or 2.... ;-)

please respect the nature´s rules: never touch a coral, you destroy hundreds of years growing....

Take the 1 hour walk up to the hill direction waterfalls... for more time, take the dungle tour (2-3 hours one way), but return before sunset: there´s nobody helping you out if you forgot your light, and you lose the way back...
