Other interesting things around Rome

by unravelau - last update: May 17, 2003

Well, don't go looking for this, looking like this

Hadrian's Mausoleum
An artist's impression (I guess) of what Hadrian's Mausoleum probably looked like.

Picture scanned from "Rome from its origins to 2000 and the Vatican", a tourist edition put together by Lozzi Roma.

It's really interesting to bring up a photograph of Castel S Angelo to recognise the changes made over time to this wonderful monument. See next picture.
Castel S Angelo 2001.

2001 edition of Castel S Angelo

A wonderful monument.
Planco's Mausoleum

The original plan for Munazio Planco's

Mausoleum in Gaeta (1 hour south of Rome).............similar style it would seem.
Planco's Mausoleum in Gaeta.

And the way it looks to-day

Munazio Planco's Mausoleum in Gaeta, is not anywhere near the size of Hadrians (aka Castel S Angelo in Rome).
Sempronius Atratinus' Mausoleum

Some of the plans for Sempronius Atratinus'

Mausoleum in Gaeta .........similar to Hadrians, but more the size of Planco's.
The mausoleum of Atratinus.

And how the Mausoleum of Sempronius

Atratinus appears to-day in Gaeta.
Water stop at Trevi Fountain.

Water, water, everywhere and all the

boards did shrink. Water water everywhere, nor any drop to drink.........

Well here at the Trevi Fountain, the water is beautiful ...........enlarge to see the queue of people either drinking or bottling some to quench their thirst..............my companion too.

Enjoyed your take on Rome and off the cuff commentary. A week next year loks as though it should be stretched to a month if I'm to do and see all the things that interest me. leyle

I liked the colosseum aspects travellogue Carole. And as usual, I like the way you look at buildings, at the city, at history. I never visited Castel Sant'Angelo, may be I will have to do one day; it seems it is one of your favourites on this planet.
