Petit dejeuner @ Cafe de La Place

Petite Dejeuner

Every fabulous day in Paris always gets off to a great start with petite dejeuner.
This photo is a le horror & remains of a small breakfast at Cafe de La Place on rue Odessa in my favorite Pl Fernand Mourlot.

The breakfast is 8,50 Euro and the timeless moment is free.

One of the little pleasures of Paris I never get sick of.

Thalys to Amsterdam

France's TGV is an engineering marvel and a tribute to France itself.

I left Gare d'Nord and was in Amsterdam before I knew it. I had a first class train pass, and the 4-seat private compartment was very comfortable and quiet.

I was surrounded in this comfortable and quiet environment moving at ....160 mph.... + by people conversing in so many different combinations of languages that they all melted together in what could best be described as "music."

U.S. could learn a LOT from the French about an efficient rail system. You sometimes hear of complaints from the french and some tourists about the TGV: put it in perspective - when is the last time you enjoyed a long trip on Amtrak?

I loved the TGV !

Lots more great TGV photos and good info here:

Waking up early

Paris at Dawn

There is nothing like rising early before dawn and watching everyone wake up in a Paris neighborhood out my hotel window.

I wish I had taken a better picture, as the rooflines and activity in the 7th behind the first lights of dawn and in people's windows was very magical.

One of those great moments where it just felt good to be alive.

The service was absolutely wonderful. The food was of great quality with the service & ambience even better. The crème Brule was so completely smooth, light, exquisitely flavoured with hints of vanilla and caramel.” Five stars from me!
