Plentitude of Herbivores

by Bregman - last update: Feb 15, 2003

A herd of impalas
Warthog
Not the most cuddly animal there is. But the warthogs are cute in their own way. They keep changing colour as they are always have a protective coat of mud.
Giraffes
You might think that spotting a five metres tall giraffe is the easiest thing. In reality, it's not that simple! From the distance a still giraffe looks like a tree. But, once you spotted the first one, it will usually be surrounded with some more.
Zebras
Zebras are the most timid herbivore I saw in the reserve. They were always the first one to flee and they kept a safe distance at all times. They completely blend into the grey bushes.
A male gnu
A male gnu defending his territory.

Great page on your safari trip with useful hints. The "slow" clock you mentioned here applies to many islands in Southeast Asia. The fisherman boat takes a few hours to arrive. SL

Excellent photo of the crocodile (one of the best I've seen). It's such a difficult creature to photograph. Selous was great. Did you see the swimming elephants?
