Christmas Trip December 2002

New York all dressed up for Christmas

Danielle and Katie
My two daughters, Katie and Danielle, and myself took a day trip to New York the Saturday before Christmas. The streets were jammed with shoppers and tourists. You could barely walk on the sidewalks. The stores were full of people. And you could hear the Salvation Army bell ringers on every corner. In other words it was a wonderful day in New York. We had one of the best times there in years. We spent the day window shopping, posing for pictures with the street decorations, and seeing a Broadway play.

One of the must do Christmas things in New York is to go see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. It is really a beautiful sight with all of its decorations and the people ice skating behind it. Here are my daughters Katie and Danielle at Rockefeller Center.

Making ourselves part of the Christmas decorations

Here is Danielle and I creating our own Kodak Moment. New York is so pretty at Christmas time. We are just across the street from Radio City Music Hall in this picture.

And here is what we were looking at while the picture above was being taken. This is the world famous Radio City Music Hall. We did not go and see the annual Christmas show with the Rockettes this year. But you can see the Christmas tree decorations all along the top of the Radio City sign.

Chicago in New York

Alright, so we did not go to see the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Show. We went to see the musical Chicago instead. Alright, so its not really a family show. But we are an unusual family. We all three really enjoyed the play. I had seen the show several years ago when the road company came to Baltimore. We got to meet Billy Zane (from the movie Titantic) who was playing the attorney in Chicago after the show. We are stage door junkies and always try to meet some of the cast after the show. We got autographs from four of the five stars of the Chicago. We had a really good time.

I love how you write about the city and can't wait to be there again in Sept! We went up the WTC tower when last there - I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about seeing that empty space
