Looking from the top of the first of a series of water falls at Damajagua (or Los Charcos), this was a great trip out on an Outback Tour. We went to the 7th water fall. We swam, climbed and "were hauled" up the water chutes by the tour staff. Coming down was way quicker, and way more fun! Like natural water slides in the rock. I have a scar on my right forearm as souvenir from whacking it on a rock on the way down one slide. But it was great fun!

I'm the one with the snorkel. This was a great dive ... to 60 feet deep and through channels in the reef. Lots of coral ... huge coral fans! It was great!
The ride back was such a rush!
Six foot swells slammed the boat down so hard I thought it would snap in half. We got soaked the entire way back, and one of the staff almost went over the transom! Flying fish gallore! Those buggers don't just jump out of the water, they actually fly 50 to 100 feet horizontally about 18 inches off the water.

Leydy was often serving drinks at the Riu Bachata swim-up bar. She was always smiling , always pleasant and always muy bonita!

We toured the Brugal rum factory in Puerto Plata. It was very interesting ... but the best part was buying two 26 oz bottles of rum (excellent rum) for $12 Canadian!!

This pic is from the Sunquest home page of the Riu Bachata resort 7 km west of Puerto Plata on the north coast. The sports beach is in the foreground, the resort is in the middle ground and the main beach in the back ground. It's a wonderful place all-round!

Such a variety of food!! Beautifully presented and oh so delicious, varied and plentiful!
Breakfast, lunch and dinner was a wonderful feast each time.

On the far right edge of this pic, the balcony on top was ours!!!! What a great room! Room 448 is the best room at Riu Bachata and one that I want to own as my own forever!

In the Riu Bachata, Maracuya Restaurant, there's the Mediteranean Room, the Steak House and the third section varied ... Dominican cuisine was one of our favourites.
