Definitely a unique destination! I chose the 10-day sailing which I found perfect. I don't think I would like to remain on the ship more than 10 days. We visited the South Shetland Islands and the waterways of the Antarctic Peninsula. It was definitely some of the most spectacular scenery I have witnessed. We visited a sunken caldera at Deception Island, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, surrounded by an abandoned whaling station. Some people even took a dip in the thermal waters at Pendulum Cove. Paradise Bay was dotted with spectacular icebergs that seem to reflect every colour of the rainbow. Everywhere there were Gentoo and Chinstrap penguins. Going through the narrow Errera Channel, huge glacial walls were on both sides, leading to an stunning archipelago of icy islands, harbouring penguin rookeries, elephant seals and myriad seabirds. |
