She really has well balanced proportions

That’s Amalia, our youngest grandchild. Isn’t she cute, sleeping on top of a garden table in the shade of a large parasol?
I love this picture very much because of the distorted proportions it looks like she has oversized feet, but don’t worry she really has well balanced proportions.

Born in July 1943 in the middle World War II

That's me!!!

My parents married in 1930 and soon their first child was born. Unfortunately it died after a few days. My parents have never been able to talk about it. The only thing I know is that I had a brother named René, just like I do.
The thirties were a sad period for my parents because of the worldwide economical depression and the threat of the National Socialism in Europe.
Finally I was born in July 1943 in the middle of World War II. I think my parents must have known that war would be over soon, because without any little spark of hope for a better life, I don’t see why they have waited 13 long years to have another child.

The world is full of coincidences. When we married in 1966, I had still to finish my studies and we had a low income, so we lived in a small flat. After 3 years we had to leave the flat and moved into a house with plenty of room. Exactly 9 months later our first son Pieter was born. Coincidence? No because in the meantime I finished my studies, we had a decent job and we were ready to have a baby.

A few years later we bought a piece of land and built our own house. In November 1973 we moved into the house and exactly 9 months later our second son David was born. Coincidence? Well.

Carine & Neviana

The fair-haired lady is Carine, Pieter’s wife and the black-haired is Neviana, David’s wife.
It looks like they are very keen on each other, but is it really so or are they faking? I wouldn’t know for sure.

Laura is 5 and quite a big girl

Pieter married Carine at the age of 27 and his great whish was to have a baby before his thirtieth birthday. His dream came true. Laura is born on December 3, 1999 and he was 30 on January 25, 2000.
Now Laura is 5 and quite a big girl!

Brent has everything under control

Exactly 1 year and 1 month later Brent was born and Laura had a little brother to play with.
Brent is 4 years old now and while he is waiting to get his hair cut, he makes us clear that everything is under control.

The world is ruled by figures and higher maths

Amalia 2 years old

Amalia is our son David’s daughter. Curious to discover a brand new world she came 4 weeks too early and was born on December 3, 2002. Now is that a coincidence: Laura and Amalia both born on December 3 and Brent on January 3? I think there is more than coincidence; for me the world is ruled by figures and higher maths.
