I didn't know he was 'The One' until years later....the first time I saw my now-husband, I was 14 years old and it was my first week of high school. I was on the bus, pulling up to the school, and he was standing there kissing his girlfriend. I saw him and knew I wanted to get to know him better, so I set out to do just that. I really liked him and was kind of sad he had a girlfriend. So, I became his best friend. I got to know him without all the romantic feelings involved; he had his girlfriend and I dated around. A couple of years later I was single and my feelings for him were very strong...his girlfriend left him, and he called on me for solace. I was torn...what should I do? I did nothing but offer a shoulder to cry on and a hug. I couldn't take advantage of his misfortune. Although I really had feelings for him I continued to date, and met a guy who ended up being the first guy I ever truly loved. Although it was love, it wasn't meant to be, and I ended up single again. Circumstances brought my original friend and I back together and he suddenly realized he had feelings for me, strong feelings, and we' ve been together ever since. We will celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary in May. I don't know if I would call it fate or love at first sight or anything like that, but I do thank God every day for the fortune of unconditionally loving this man, and receiving his unconditional love in return.
