For some time ungranted wish for us, hiking Mt Rysy, bacame truth on Friday, Aug 23th 2002. The expedition was incomplete – two of our group stayed at home because of medical problems. So five of us got up at 3 am (which was hard cause drinking late in the night was getting kind of habit for us). We had a breakfast and drove to few kilometres under Popradske pleso, where we started the most exciting hiking trip at 4 am. It was dark for about an hour, sun rose in 2 hours. We passed Zabje pleso and came to a surprisingly beautiful mountaineer hut called Chata pod Rysmy. We had a hot tea which was just cool. Pretty early we decided to reack the peak which borders to Poland. With 2499,6 meters Mt Rysy is one of the most visited mountains in the High Tatras. At the time we were returning to the Popradske pleso other people just started hiking. We read in a travel book that Slovaks start hiking their mountains at 8 am. But I think it's to late because the weather gets pretty cloudy after noon (at least it got at the time of our staying – the end of August). When we got back to the Popradske pleso we got totaly wet! It was raining heavily with some hard sleet. Some guys there made a snowman. And we were snowballing eachother. Hahaha! Though we have to thank Katja & Polona who stayed home and cleaned our mess. Thanks, girls!
