|  | The road from Hushe to Skardu passes through some absolutely stunning villages such as Machulu, Khapalu and Kande all set to he spectaclar backdrop of mountains like Hushe.
We didn't have time to really stop and explore them, but even passing by was great.

Machulu Village from the roadside - this place has stuck in my mind and I would have loved to have been able to spend the time and visit the village itself. | | |
| | A closer view of Machulu - you can see how there is a link between the people of Baltistan an d their classical tibetan ancestory. The Balti language is supposed to more closely resemble Tibetan than it does Urdu (the national language of Pakistan).
The buildings look a lot like those I've seen in pictures of Nepal and Bhutan |
