 Hi - what an encyclopaedic journey. Bravo! 2 little pieces of information regarding Sweetheart Abbey - it is the place that gave the term "sweetheart" to the English language, and the John Balliol you mention was the founder of Balliol college, Oxford.

 Couldn't you just live right there at Kilchurn, at least during holidays, well, except for the fact it lacks a roof...heavenly scenery though...
