Scared When I was in Nepal i spent three days at Chitwan National Park. One day I explored the villages, one day I went on a jeep-tour, hoping to see a tiger. . The most adventurous day was, when I followed a guide walking into the high gras and forest. We were just the two of us. My guide explained to me, how to react, when a Rhino sees us and attacks us: I should climb as fast as possible up the next tree. Me!!! I don't climb nothing, not even up a table! . After seeing crocodiles sleeping peacefully on the bank of a small river and a lot of colourful birds, we reached an area of high gras, where we finally spotted a big rhinoceros. We stood between some trees and watched the animal. Then there came a tourist group on elephants. They made a lot of noice and scared the rhino. This huge animal run in the direction, where we stood. It did not see us. My guide got nervous and I was looking for a comfortable tree and thinking, that I maybe will be able to climb. Then the rhino crossed our path just 5 metres in front of me, giving us just a short look from his small angry looking eyes and vanished in the forest. . After I had recovered from this little adventure we went on, walking on a sandy path along a river. My guide pointed to a print in the sand and told me, that this was a tiger's footprint, which had been at the river early in the morning. I was not sure whether to believe him or not. I did not like the idea, that I was walking in an area, where there might be real tigers! Before, I just had not thought about it. The guide reassured me, that there was no danger for us. So we walked on: first the guide and then me. Suddenly I heard some noices in the bushes behind me. And then a loud roar! My first and only thought was "Tiger!!". I instantly jumped five metres into the arms of my small guide. Then I turned my head into the direction of the noice: there was this nice guy on the elephant. Both boys laughed and laughed and laughed and after a minute of recovering I laughed with them! |

Wafro Wed Feb 27, 2008 19:22 UTC That’s true. When you‘re in the bush, it’s very difficult to take pictures of wild animals. Even in Africa. GRTz | yumyum Fri Feb 2, 2007 19:11 UTC We couldn't go to Chitwan with our overland truck because of the high water in the river :( | butterfly_girl Fri Feb 25, 2005 13:45 UTC Nice Chitwan pictures! | roamer61 Sun Jan 11, 2004 15:29 UTC Great page.
