NEW YORK / NEW AMSTERDAM.....

by eden_teuling - last update: Nov 8, 2004

A CITY TRIP.........

IN NEW YORK'S STREETS....
Yes, I little brown bear, your guide through elisabeth's pages, could tell you a lot more about New York, which used to be NEW AMSTERDAM once; New Amsterdam was founded by the Dutch in 1653; the English renamed it New York in 1664.

Over 120 countries are represented in NY, how about that?

The primary language is English but Spanish is the second most commonly heard.

Best thing is: mingle with the crowds, do what they do and you will feel happy, I am sure of it. I did, and no one noticed that I was the little brown bear from VirtualTourist, that does mean a thing, doesn't it??!!

In winter it is icy cold in New York and I don't like that and the heat of summer is unBEARable, so the best time is SPRING.

Take a fleece shirt because there is always a lot of wind in New York, caused by the high buildings that try to scrape the skies above this termite mountain.

IN THE STREETS OF NEW YORK...

CLIMBING IS ALWAYS REWARDING....

Walking the streets on tired feet is one thing, observing things from a vantage point is quite another thing and ......very worthwhile.

Take your time to climbhigh up, hang over railings, till the tears roll down your cheeks because of the brisk breeze, but enjoy the view and wonder about that phenomenon called: mankind!!! and..... remember at the same time that you are one of them, just for a short time separated high up from the herd by your own free will!

Then, wipe your tears away, clear your view, remove the haze that surrounds you and go down again, to be and feel one of them, not better, not worse, maybe a bit wiser!!

CLOUD OVER NEW YORK....

WISH I WERE...

on >this cloud!! This must be CLOUD 9

But as high as this cloud I shall never come to have this bird's eye view over Manhattan!

The sky scrapers will always win.

This is such a wonderful card that I wanted to show it to you! Enjoy it and then, one day perhaps you will decide to go to this fabulous, bubbling city!

Next time a helicopter flight, maybe??
