ROCKEFELLER CENTER........ Right in the heart of Manhattan , opposite St. Patricks Cathedral, stands what is considered to be one of the architectural marvels of New York: PROMETHEUS, a raving beauty of dazzling splendour.
RC is situated in the Western part of New York, a complex of buildings with e.g. 21 sky scrapers. A meetingplace for businessmen!
There also is one of the world's biggest theatres (6.000 seats) RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL.

| HAZY VIEW OVER NEW YORK CITY..... |
| | HAZY VIEW OVER NEW YORK CITY...... Never getting tired (it seemed ) we soldiered on and on....exploring every nook and cranny of this BIG APPLE....
But in the hotel again late in the evening we felt worn down and couldn't think of again such a day....and yet every evening we knew that we would be ready again after some hours of deep, dreamless sleeping.
|
| FAMOUS GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM.... |
| | FAMOUS GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM.... We visited lots of museums, but this one is so very special, from the inside as well as from the outside.
Exterior view from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, 1071 Fifth Avenue, New York City.
There is another Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao in Spain.
|
| | FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT HIMSELF...... no, no, no, I didn't have an appointment, up there, with him!!
The famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright at the museum in 1959.
|
| PEACE AND QUIET IN CENTRAL PARK... |
| | PEACE AND QUIET........ Another view of the "LUNGS" of New York: well, New York can't say that it never smoked although we all know how disastrous that bad habit can be for our lungs.
Admitted New York's lungs here are in a healthy condition: we enjoyed it very much walking and talking there, while inhaling the spring-brittle fresh air.
|
| | THE CLOISTERS..... In the North of the Island you can find the CLOISTERS, a fantastic and unknown view/spectacle for the American continent. An oasis or peace and quiet. It is a Medieval and Renaissance Museum and looks like an Abbey of which the different parts came from several French Cloisters.
|
| | WAITING TO ENTER THE CLOISTERS..... In the background the City of New York.
A nice experience to find these cloisters here, far away from their homes in France, Europe! I think they are feeling a bit homesick!!!
So go there and enjoy them and tell them how wonderful they are and that all is well in France!
|
| DARK STREET IN NEW YORK... |
| | HOW HIGH, DARK AND GREY..... One day wasn't that bright and the wind howled through the streets with their high buildings and we had to keep our shawls and bonnets with both hands....but in the afternoon it was sunny again!
