Welcome to the Ukrainian capital, dear fellow-travelers! What will you to begin the city tour with? Many people like to begin exploring the city from its heart - Independence Square - where one can see beautiful sculptures, fountains, the Independence Column, the World Time Column, the "Globe" underground city and what not... Why not take a picture of youself in front of all those fine places?
| The dome of the underground city |
| | "Globe" Center You are now in the "underground city" built recently in record-breaking period of time. The floors of the complex include lots of stores, dozens of cafes and restaurants and so on.
The quickest way of traveling about the city This is the Metro, of course. If you wish to see as much as you can within a short period of time (like me), take the underground called the Metro. It consists of about 40 station and three lines - very easy to reach the remotest destinations within the city! The metro stations are real marble palaces containing bronze sculptures and marble design. Enjoy your quick traveling!

| | Marble Underground Palaces I do enjoy a quick ride in the underground. Just have a look at the metro map and do not hesitate to get whereevr you want by the metro, especially if you are in a hurry or want to see its classical stations built in the Soviet times and the modern ones built in the nineties. Have fun!
Lenin: Under the Ground, Too This is one of the metro masterpieces - the bas-relief of Vladimir Lenin in "Lukyanivska" ("Luciano") metro station, an example of the Soviet metro classisism.

| | The UKrainian House It's at the end of Khreshchatyk - the capital's central street - in European Square. You can see the flags of the European Union and of Ukraine at its entrance. The building was built in the Soviet Union in the eighties as Lenin Museum and now it's an exhibition and business center of Ukraine.
St.Volodymyr's Hill If you go up the street from the Ukrainian House, you will get to Volodymyr's Hill where the monument to Prince Volodymyr is located. You can have a wonderful view of the river from the hill and sit comfortably on a bench relaxing after your site seeing tour.

| World Column, Kiev, Ukraine |
| | World Column, Independence Square This column stands at the place from where the distances are measured. You can see directions and distances to lots of world destinations here.
