Day 5:Arrivederci Roma

Piazza Venezia

Rome under his feet

It was my last day on the city, and I’d already saw all the places on my “must see” list; so I went for the secondary targets. One of those was the Stairs of Piazza Venezia. The views from there are really impressive.

City of contrasts

From there you could get a really good idea of what Rome is. You are inside a 19th century monument, looking at a church 400 years older and a Roman Circus of the 1st century AD.

The beautiful church

Santa Maria in Trastevere deserves a visit by day. The area is not as charming as during the night, but is still a very lively and beautiful neighborhood.

Amazing ceilings

It’s impossible not to pay attention to the precious ceilings of the church.

Portunus and Ercole Vincitore Temples

Looking for Temples

Near the famous Boca della Verita (which I don’t think it’s interesting at all, by the way) there are a couple of beautiful reconstructed Roman Temples.

Following Michelangelo’s path

In the afternoon, I went to Chiesa de Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, a church that holds a fine Michelangelo’s sculpture.

My last memory of Rome

While I watched the sun leaving Rome from Ponte San Angello, I promised myself that I would see that view again in my life…
