| | God’s eye view I went to St. Peter’s dome very early on the morning, trying to avoid the tourist crowd, with no result at all, because there where a lot of people queuing when I arrived to the place. Anyway, I really wanted to be up there, following the promise of the most beautiful view of Rome. There are two parts to the way up: one to the base of the dome and another one to the peak. You can reach the dome by climbing the stairs or by taking an elevator, but not even God will save you from the stairs to the peak. ;-) . |
The treasures of the Vatican Once I finished climbing, I was rewarded with these wonderful views. If you are lucky enough as to climb there in a clear day (like this one), there will be an overwhelming view of 10km range. You cannot leave Rome without that view!! | | | Vatican Gardens from St. Peter’s dome |

| | Scooby-Doo?!?! From St. Peter I went to the Vatican Museum. After queuing during more time than in St. Peter (grrrr), I visited the immense halls of the museum. Despite there are a predefined tour to visit the place, you could still omit some of the collections.
Anyway, I’ll be a shame if you don’t visit the Egyptian halls. I’ve never been in Egypt, but I dream often with that country, so for me, it was a must see. |
The Sistine Chapel The peak moment of the visit was the Sistine Chapel. It’s so beautiful, with such vivid colors… It’s impossible not to feel lost inside the scenes.
| | Stairway to Vatican Leaving the Vatican, I founded this estrange and photogenic stairs. Don’t get confused with the perspective; they are more that 10 meters high. |
At last! After lunch, I devoted myself to my favorite pastime; wander around Rome streets. While I was walking Corso del Rinascimento, I founded a building that looked like a Palazzo, and I went there. It was not a Palazzo at all, but the church with the fascinating dome that I saw two days ago. I was so delighted with the view that I just sited down there and sketched a draft of the dome.

| | The beauty of the little things I really believe that the beauty could be found everywhere; you just have to look around you and pay attention to the little details. For me, the most remarkable quality of Rome is that you could get marveled with the ceilings of the Sistine Chapel in the morning, and find the same amazement with the colors that the sun produce over the buildings during the nightfall. |
An island in the middle of the River Isola Tiberina is the smallest inhabited island of the world. I think that condition make it desirable for a visit… Don’t you think so?
