Log of Daily Activities in Mecca Departure Day - Monday Sept. 16, 2002
Getting here turned out to be quite an adventure, but we made it. After amost getting stranded in NYC and then flying in coach I arrived in Holland alone. Randy got left and ended up taking a flight through Paris and arrived later that same day! So our flight across the pond was totally messed up and quite miserable but we are here, finally.
Day 1 - Tuesday Sept. 17
Took a taxi from the airport to Haarlem costed me 45 Euros. After checking in a Joops I headed to the nearest coffeeshop WWIndica, which after I got there, turned out to be closed, dammit, all that walking for nothing. To the WWSativa then, even longer walk, but worth it, got a nice 4 gram bud of Jack Herer for 25 Euro and proceeded to roll one and get wasted. Nol walking in and gave a traditional dutch greeting and chatted with me for a bit. After an hour or so I headed back to the apartment hoping it was ready. I was very tired and needed some rest since I hadnt slept since Sunday night!
In the middle of the afternoon while I am alseep, Randy burst in on me. I cant believe he is here, I really think I am dreaming so I make sure to touch him several times before drifting back off to sleep. Upon arriving Randy also stopped at the Sativa and picked up a gram of Haze for 4 euro and smoked it then and there!! Later after resting we went to Wilma & Albert's for a great steak dinner. Afterwards we was still beat so we crashed out and got a good nights sleep.
Day 2 - Wednesday
We went straight to the WWSinsemilla to see if Marcel was around but he wasnt so we decided to go into AMS. Very hungry we went straight to the Hard Rock Cafe to eat and get some souviners. Then naturally we headed directly for the Noon and scored some blueberry nugs. Both of us got 5 grams for 23 Euro and we sat a burned us one. We then went around the corner to the Rookies which was pretty dead, hard to believe and I got a lighter with Rookies on it and we smoked another joint.
Getting back closer to the station we visited the De Kuil and picked up 2 grams of Neville's Big Skunk for 16 Euro. We heated up the vaporizor and got blowed away, man that thing hits hard!! We left there and ended up making a first time stop at the Betty Boop. And I was not very impressed at all, the bar keeper was not attentive at all and could have cared less if we wanted anything or not, so we left.
After getting back to Haarlem, we again feasted on a huge steak at Wilma & Albert's. Then we headed to the GHM to burn one and get some souviner grinders. Stopped at the Dutch Joint before calling it a night.
Day 3 - Thursday
Money's starting to get low so we go right to the ATM and get 250 Euros. Went to the GHM first to catch a buzz and Maruska was there, we chatted for a while and then we went off to AMS again. Got two RT train tickets for 11E. We had lunch at Tivoli, which was perfectly delicious, just like we remembered. Around the corner for dessert to the De Kuil, of course.
The quest for some different weed on the agenda we made our way to the Grey Area and purchased some Yellow Cab, 8 grams for 50E and Bubblegum, 7 grams for 50E. John, the owner, threw in an extra gram cause he is just so nice. And he remembered us from the last two trips and knows we are good customers! After leaving there, we didnt stay and smoke, too small and not comfortable at all, we went to the Siberie and smoked out while playing pinball.
Once we got back to Haarlem we again went to the Sinsemilla to see if Marcel was there. And finally we got to see him and Nol and Maruska were all there! We chatted and had a few smokes for a while then Maruska gave us a ride back to the apartment. We smoked another couple of joints then crashed out. |
Days 4,5 Day 4 - Friday
Got up feeling a bit lazy today and so we just kicked around the room for a while. We had Mcdonald's for lunch and then headed out for the grocery store to get some drinks and snacks for the room.
Later we ventured over to the Sativa and hung out with Nol for while and chatted, he is working on his book, typing into his new laptop. Tony was working so we talked with him a bit too. Had dinner again at W&A and went to the Empire coffeeshop afterwards for some 'dessert'. They still have tables outside since the weather has been so nice and we sat outside and smoked up, right out in the open, now that is true freedom!
We had plans to go to Marcel's house at 8pm, so we went walking that way. He hooked us up with all kinds of different weed and some hash. Marcel has been experimenting with growing some of his own crops and he gave us some Haze he'd grown. It was a huge bud probably 11-13 grams! It did have a few seeds in it and it had a real weird smell and taste to it but it was good. Also we got a huge bud of Power Plant that was apx 8-9 grams and covered with crystals, it was VERY NICE!! We got some Purple too in several small buds about 7-8 grams and some buds of Mayday(noname) maybe 5-6 grams. Marcel also had some real strange looking stuff called Snow White and was weird. It seemed like it had something sprinkled on it and so I didnt really want to try it. He gave us a few grams of it anyway to try if we wanted to, he said it was where they grinded up the wood and dusted it on the weed. Altogether Marcel gave us over an ounce of free weed. Also he gave us a little bit of hash and he smoked with us some Blue Moonshine he had. We had a blast hanging out and smoking up at his house and taking photos and video of all the weed & hash he has in his house.
Day 5 - Saturday
Today we are suppposed to meet BonBonBilly (channels.nl) at the Sativa, so that is our first destination of the day. After about 45 minutes, in walks the Santa look-a-like, well not really but it was a good description to recognize him by. He almost walked right past us, not even looking, unitl I said 'BonBon' and he stopped and looked and we knew who each other was. Just chatting and getting aquainted, we smoked up and we can already tell he does not smoke like we do, but hell who does!
Nol showed up a little later and I introduced him to BBB and we all chatted for a bit. Then we decided to do the coffeeshop hop together and we jumped on the bus #72 to Houtplein, off to the Sinsemilla. BBB and Randy shot several games of pool while I watched , joint in hand! Marcel came in briefly and smoked with us and then we was off to catch a bite to eat. Of course we had to share out find in steak with our new bud BBB so we ended up at Wilma and Albert's yet again. BBB really enjoyed the very filling meal and thanks us for showing him this jewel of a restuarant, now will he able to find it again? After getting our belly's full we rounded the block over to the Global Hemp Museum to hit on the vaporizor. We sent BBB on the bus to the station and made our way back to the room to crash out for the evening. |
Days 6,7,8 Day 6 - Sunday
We made plans to meet with BBB so we headed straight for AMS. The HRC our destination for lunch, we arrived a little after noon to find BBB already waiting outside. We enjoyed a good lunch then departed for the Noon coffeeshop just around the corner. Our local friend Ettie was there again and we chatted and smoke for a while and took some photos.
Then we all ampled around the block to the Rookies. The pool table was occupied so Randy and BBB didnt get a chance to play so we left. BBB took us to one of his favorite coffeehops to hangout, the Rokerij. It was a cool place and we smoked and tripped there for a while before heading back closer to the Station.
We stopped in at the Fancy Free, that is where BBB likes to get his favorite bonbons from. Unfortunately they sold out of almost everything so we left very disappointed, especially poor BonBonBilly. After that we went in the LaCanna and Randy and BBB shot pool while I rolled the joints:) Then we went over to the De Kuil and chilled out. I was really wanting to try some eatible weed stuff so we went to the Abraxas to get brownies and space cake.
Munchies and hunger setting in from smoking and walking so much, we went to Tivoli for dinner. We got our usual and BBB decided to try the shrimp (in an Italian restuarant) but he did and it was funny. The shrimp were whole, yep, heads and all on his plate and we was all trippin'!! BBB was like, how am I supposed to eat it?? Well he did the best he could and I think he was wishing he would have ordered something different! Then we went right around the corner to the Route 66 to smoke and bidded farewell to our new buddy BonBonBilly. On the way to CS we stopped and got a 10E phone card. Once we got to Haarlem, we went to the room relaxed and then passed out.
Day 7 - Monday
White Widow is getting ready to leave back in the states, her long journey to get here is just beginning.
First we go the GHM to smoke and we get some more souviners. Surprisingly Nol comes in touring a Brit around who is opening a seed selling business in London. He sits and chats with us a bit before rushing out to do more business as usual. Nol is a very busy man. To the Sativa for a toastie and a smoke. Found a store just right down the street that has Mt Dew, at 1E a can, we spent 12E! But Randy was on top of the world! Then we went to the Sinsemilla and Randy shot pool and played pinball. I caught up on email and posted some trip reports on the channels.nl. Had McDonald's on the way back to the room and then called it a night.
Day 8 - Tuesday
White Widow is arriving today, so we get tickets for all of us on the train, spent 20E. we go to the airport tomeet her, only to find her flight delayed by an hour. Finally, she gets here and we head direclty outside to burn the big joint of blueberry I had for us:)) Then we headed down to the trains and jumped the first one for AMS Central! We checked WW luggage into a locker a CS and got right on the tram towards the Noon for more blueberry buds. And man did we get lucky, the owner Ro was there and remembered us from previous trips and he told us that this batch of blueberry was from his special grower of CC winning strain! This stuff was thabomb! so we got hooked up on a couple of ounces of that chronic weed. At 23E per 5 grams, we loaded up, I got 20gr, Randy 20gr and WW only got 10gr. We spent 184E on 40gr, now that is an awesome deal.
After getting a good buzz on, we needed to get our hungry on, so we made our way to the HRC for some lunch. Then we went to the Rokerij for a smoke and after that we headed back to Haarlem to get White Widow checked into her room. After getting her situated we went to the GHM and smoked off the vaporizor. Later we went to dinner at W&A, White Widow was wanting a good meal. After eating we headed out to the Sinsemilla to see if Marcel was around. I posted a trip report and Randy shot pool for bit and WW just sat and zoned out! |
Day 9 - Wednesday September 25 Day 9
**My Birthday**
Time to celebrate! I slept in a little since it was my day. Then we went right around the corner to the GHM. Maruska was there and she sat a smoked and chilled with us for a while.
Then we headed to AMS for the day. First thing we ate at BK in the CS. To the DeKuil after eating for a smoke. We got some Shiva, 5gr. for 35E, a little more pricey than the Noon but the stuff is worth it. I really like the unique smell and taste of the Shiva buds. We smoked there for a while then we went souviner shopping. We ended up at the Noon again, White Widow was wanting more of the killer bb, BUT it was all gone! Now she was wishing she would have just gotten 20gr too. WW went ahead and got some of the new batch but it was not near as strong smelling and tasting as the other. The buzz was not as good either.
On a mission to find the Katsu and the other Greenhouse we headed further out from the centrum. We walked forever but apparently the directions we had were not accurate. So we turned towards finding the Greenhouse and with no problems we got there. We bought some souviners and White Widow bought 3 grams of AK-47 for me for my b-day. While we was chillin and smokin we met a dude who gave us directions to the Katsu. We found it after that and was disappointed to say the least. It is a very small place and stuffy with few seats. We were surprised to find they only sell prepackaged weed and hash. The dealer showed me a 1 gram bud of Sage and wanted 12 euro, I dont think so, what a rip off. So we left and headed back towards the station to pick up something to eat before going back to Haarlem.
We went to Tivoli so White Widow could finally try the veal we had been bragging about so much. And go figure a different cook is working and he made it totally different than it had ever been with the other cook. Now can you imagine, it is my b-day and my killer veal that I've had numerous times before and here it comes out nothing like what we had been getting. I was soo pissed to say the least and after sending it back twice we left disgusted and disappointed.
Decided to go straight on back to Haarlem since it was getting late. Stopped in at the Sativa for our after dinner smoke and chilled for a bit. WW looked over the menu and got some Power Plant, 5gr for 40E. It wasnt as good as the batch of PP that Marcel had at his house. After leaving there we went across the street and made another 250E w/d before jumping the 72 back to the apt. Toked up a few before hitting the sack. |
Days 10, 11 Day 10 - Thursday
Naturally we started out the day getting buzzed at the Global. Then we decided to make our way over to the Indica cause White Widow hadnt been there yet and she wanted a lighter to complete her collection of WWlighters. We was chillin and smokin and watchin this guy who was taking photos. And you could tell he was taking professional photos cause he had a nice setup. Then I noticed he was using some hash from the dealcounter, so I was really wanting to know who this was now. So began to start up a conversation with him and low and behold is was Pete Brady of Cannabis Culture magazine!! Oh my God I was not believing this, we was lucky enough to run into him like we did, amazing. I was trippin to say the least and we had quite a long conversation. Eventually we showed him our blueberry buds we had and he was trippin!! He proceeded to take photos of our buds, YES, he took several photos of our buds. I took a couple of photos of Randy with Pete so people would know I really did meet him! After hanging out there for quite some time, we wandered over to the Sativa, on the way we stopped and bought more strippenkarts, 14E.
Getting hungry, time for a good steak we went to W & A's yet again. Then we went to the Sinsemilla to smoke up. I spent some time on the computer while Randy played pinball and shot pool. WW just sat and smoked and got really stoned.
Day 11- Friday
This time we went first to the Sinsemilla and Marcel was there. We all chatted and smoked for a while then we left headed for AMS again. We stopped and got our tram passes first, spent 20E on two 3-day passes. Went straight to the HRC and grabbed some lunch. White Widow got some souviners and then we went to the Bulldog so she could get some there too. We sat outside and smoked tripping on the street performers and everyone else. It is soo cool to sit outside and burn one with so many people around, I just loved it. Me and WW treated ourselves to a Hagen Daiz ice cream just across the way after watching people indulge on it for an hour. Munchies! oh and it was soo good but a bit pricey at 2,70 for one scoop!! Made our way back towards Central and stopped in at the Siberie for a smoke. Then we started back to Haarlem, we have a date at Marcel's at 8pm, cant be late for that!
Got totally wasted at Marcel's house. We smoked on some Honey Maroc hash he had and it was real good. He ended up giving us the chunk he was smoking off of, which weighed 6 grams. He put it on the scales right in front of us so we would know how much is was. Also he gave us about 5grams of some PP he had and he smoked several joints with us. By the time we left Marcels we were starving so we walked to the Omar pizza place and got some cheese(margarita) pizzas. It was much better this time and we didnot get ripped off in the price, it was only 9E for two small pizzas. Smoked some hash in the room that Marcel gave us. We used our little pipe we got at the GHM, it hit real nice and not too harsh. |

Days 12,13 Day 12 - Saturday September 28
Randy's Birthday today, he slept in late as hell, til almost 1pm! Me and WW left and went round the corner to the Global without him to get smoked. Finally he showed up about 45 minutes later and was ready to burn. Marcel came in, surprisingly, and gave a short hash pressing demo. He was making some isolator hash and when he got finished he gave us a sample to try!
Went on to AMS and had lunch at the BK at the station, 11E. We crossed the street out of central and made a stop at the Interpolm. Cool place with everything necessary to grow 'herbs'..and you can smoke there, but we didnt. We went right outside and to the corner to the Rasta Baby where they have nice outside tables with a good view. It is a great place to check out all the action going on. We have noticed a lot drug deals go on in this area and in just the short time we were there we saw two couples get ripped off for their money. After that we went to the DeKuil and got some more of the awesome Shiva, 5 gr. 35E. Now I really like this stuff, it is so wicked smelling and tasting. Did a tour around the RLD and tripped on all the ho's. White Widow decided she wanted more souviners from the Bulldog so we hit the one in the RLD. We went in for a smoke before heading back to Haarlem.
Day 13 - Sunday
Well after leaving our first usual stop of the day, GHM, we went to the train station to get tickets to Zandvoort. The ride only took a few minutes, I never realized how close we actually were to the beach. It turned out to be a very nice day and it was warm. All of us came out of our jackets before we left Zandvoort. Randy walked out on the shore while White Widow and I sat and people watched. WW got some kind of fish plate at a stand on the beach. A lot of people was eating it but Randy and I didn't get any, we tasted WW's and decided to pass.
While searching around for Yanks coffeeshop we found a pizzera, so we went in and ate some pizza, it was ok. Luckily enough the Yanks turned out to be right behind the restuarant. It is very nice and big coffeeshop with 3 floors. Downstairs is a gameroom with pool tables and pinball. The ground floor was seperated in 2 parts, the saloon/bar and the weed bar. The whole place is decorated in an Indian theme, there are even TeePees inside! Upstairs there are more tables and lots of seating. We tried some of their White Widow, 2 grams for 14 E. After walking around some more, we took the train back to Haarlem.
There is a DJ contest tonight at the Sinse so went there to check it out. It was really too loud and repetitive so we didnt stay long. We stopped in briefly at the Sativa and burned one before going back to the room to relax. Later Randy went to Mcdonalds and we ate in the room.
Well WhiteWidow is supposed to be leaving tomorrow so we got to get to bed early. |

Days 14, 15 Day 14 - Monday
Get up early to go with WW to the airport. And oh is it crowded, I sure hope she gets on! We instruct her where to go 'just in case' she cant get on and off we go to Amsterdam. Straight to the Noon to see if the killer blueberry is back, but it wasnt. We got 5 grams anyway for 23 E and proceeded to roll and smoke. We left there thinking we was going to have lunch at the HRC but it wasnt open yet. So I get on the phone to call my friend at the airline to see if WW got on the plane or not. And of course NOT, so we hurried back to Schipol to find her waiting exactly where we said. She was so glad to see us! We left and made our way back to the apt to drop off her luggage. We are in serious need of clean clothes so go the washerette up near the station. Ended up spending 9E just to wash two small loads! After getting the clothes started we head down the street to the Sativa for a smoke. To my surprise I see Confuzn and AntyinFla from the channels.nl. Actually we had a planned meeting which I totally blanked-out about and I felt real bad I forgot. I am just glad it worked out and we all were there at the same time anyway. We smoked and chatted for a while and then they headed off to go check out the Theehuis while we went to finish laundry. Spent another 2E to get the dryers started and went back to the Sativa to wait on the clothes to finish. This crazy girl ended up sitting at our table, her name was Barbara. And she was nut, had us laughing our ass off. She invited us to come to her house for dinner one night and even gave us her phone#, but we never called her.
Had plans with Marcel for dinner at W&A's so we went to the GHM to meet him at 6. On the way in the door out comes Confuzn and Anty, we had told them about the place, and we briefly intoduced them to Marcel. They really liked the food and thoroughly enjoyed their dinner there. Our dinner was delicious and Marcel was pleased we took care of him tonight! Being so stuffed we departed to our room and called it a night.
Day 15 - Tuesday
Sent WW to the airport to try again to get on the flight and finally she did. We slept in then got up and went to AMS again in search of blueberry. Sill no more of the killer but we get 5 more grms anyway. After getting buzzed we go the HRC for lunch, they open at 12. Took the tram back to central and stopped in at the De Kuil for some Shiva. Got 10 grams for 70E of real nice fat buds oozing with crystals. Walked on over to the Grey Area for the wicked Yellow Cab, 7.5gr for 50E. Made a quick stop at the ATM for more cash, 100E.
Had a channelites meeting at 7 so we went in the direction of the Rookies. Arrived first and claimed a big table, began to roll one and smoke all the while keeping an eye on a young couple that I believed was American. The girl seemed a novice smoker the way she was hitting the little pin-joint the guy kept passing to her. Next thing I know the biitch falls out, completely on the floor. And I am like trippin out thinking this guy must have put something in her drink. I mean surely the weed didnt do all that. She is limp, totally unconscious and they pick her up and carry her outside. After a few moments she comes to and is shaking her head like she's dizzy. They sat there for a while and eventaully got up and left with him half-carrying her. Never seen anything like that before, it was a trip out experience. After all the action takes place the channelies start to show up. First it was Slug from Canada and then Confuzn and Anty from Florida came in. Confuzn rolled a huge joint with 4 kinds of weed and some hash in it and we all smoked on it forever. We chatted, smoked and took photos for a couple hours. Then we all parted ways to get a bite to eat. Randy and I went to Tivoli and this time the right cook was working and our meal was perfect. We got a full plate and left very satisfied. I got a terrible headache shortly thereafter so we left and went back to the room for the night. |
Days 16, 17, 18 Day 16 - Wednesday
Well we were supposed to be leaving today, but we decided to make a 2 day extention. Started off at the Global and then we went to the Sativa. We had a toastie and a smoke there before heading out to do a canal tour of Haarlem. It turned out to be a pretty decent day, but a bit overcast. The tour was very nice and it lasted for 75 minutes. We made a trip all around town and even got to see some very big and beautiful houses. I took lots of photos and video of the pretty scenery. The tour cost 6,50 per person which is a real good deal. After the tour we stopped in at the GHM and used the vaporizor. Minke even smoked on it with us this time. I found a really good place to hide some bud for the Scavenger Hunt on the channels.nl. This will be a great place for the hunt to begin.
After relaxing in the room for a bit we went to Mcdonalds to get a bite to eat. Then we headed out to the Sinsemilla to see if Marcel is there so we can tell him bye. But he nowhere to be found. We hung out there for a while and smoked. I got on the internet while Randy played pinball. After walking about for a while we stopped and had one last dinner at Wilma & Albert's. It was good as ever, I am really going to miss that place. Smoked up the room before going off to sleep.
Day 17 - Thursday
This last day is always so depressing, I hate it. Had a smoke out on the 3rd floor balcony before taking off to the train station. Bought rt tickets and headed off one last time to AMS for the day. Went to Tivoli first to get some lunch and it was delicious. After leaving there we went to De Kuil and got 5 gr more of the Shiva for 35 E then proceeded to roll it up! We headed over the Siberie next and played some pinball while smoking another joint. Being that we were so close we decided to go to Barney's and give the place another try since last time wasnt so good of an experience. The dealer was kinda nice, all because he let me have a menu when I asked about buying one, but not when it came to the weed. He just seemed irritated when we wanted to see several kinds and we really was not impressed anyway. But we ended up purchasing some of the 'award-winning' Sweet Tooth, 5gr for 40E--OUCH, pricey! It was absolutely nothing to write home about and we was very disappointed after how the dealer talked it up like it was thabomb--NOT! Making sure to hit all our favorite spots on the last, SAD, day we headed out to the Noon. Said our goodbyes to Ettie and the very nice and helpful dealer. Chilled there and smoked for quite a while before going back to Haarlem.
Once we got back we popped in at the GHM to say bye to Minke. And then we went to the Sinse hoping to see Marcel one last time. We stayed around for a bit and smoked like hell but he never came in, how depressing. Well we tried to stay away but to no avail, had dinner at Wilma and Alberts. This is definitely THE LAST TIME for a long time anyway that we will eat here. And it was supurb! We said goodbye to the cook and staff and made our way around the corner to our apartment. After smoking copious amounts of weed we finally passed out!
Day 18 - Friday October 4, 2002
Had to get up early, time to check out. We smoked up like hell in the room before we left. We had ordered the taxi already and it arrived shortly after we go to the reception. Long sad ride to the airport, already feeling sick and wishing that we dont get on the plane. But we were not fortunate to get stranded in AMS another night! We boarded the plane in first class with seats to spare. Well at least we got to leave in style and get a fabulous bird's eye view of Holland on the way back to the USA.

Hi Blueberry...Thatīs some funny stuff you write. What a good suprise to see that you have been in The Old Style in Amsterdam, it used to be my favorite shop. It has been closed now :-( |
