my gallery of paintings.

Travelling within. No mind / body dichotomy.

It all starts with a path to detatchment from pre-conceived rules. I don't know where my paintings come from, or where they will take me. I've never had any formal training in art - I was always a self-described nerd concentrating on math, finance, and science. As you can tell, I have no concept of spatial representation, only color and texture. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed painting them.
It seems that in this world formal art training can actually be a hinderance to success. You are being taught how to paint based upon what someone has done before, and graded upon what the teacher believes is proper use of color, texture, etc. But how is my judgement different? For I have my own set of standards. It's because they are mine. Mine that produce, judge, and enjoy.
This painting was done for an ex-girlfriend of mine by the name of Julie. I took it home in order to finish it for her - and never did see her again. I used to believe looking at this painting would cause hurt emotions to well up - but ironically it is my most controlled work and thus inspires myself to look at the painting objectively. We can not look at old loves with broken hearts - but for the positive strengths they inspired within us. I meant to give this to her, and instead she gave something to me.
My first splatter painting.....
my most recent painting done in October of 2002. Still not sure what to think about it. Some gobs of paint stick up a whole half of a centimeter........ bleah!
raw Rockefeller power

The diesel powered project.

I have just sold my first painting. I'm thinking about what I want to do next - the image is there and the follow-through is next. I honestly think it could be much more than what I've done. So it's a series of train pictures that I've started to print out (big prints). Kinko's is great. I'm just staring and trying to figure out what I should watercolor over the top. This is what I'm planning on putting into a gallery.
