Spawned Pink Salmon

Spawned Pink Salmon
From the end of August to September you will see many dead spawned out Pink Salmon along the streams and rivers of Kodiak. As the life cycle of the pink is a couple of years in the ocean then come back where they were born then spawn then die! You will see lot's of seagulls in the areas where the Pink Salmon are dieing as they love to eat the eyes of the Pink Salmon! Also the area will be quite smelly if there hasn't been enough rain to wash the dead carcusses down the river and out to sea! My dog loves to roll in the dead carcusses. He thinks he smells good ...I guess?
My son with a Pink Salmon

My son with a Pink Salmon

In July and August fishing for Pink Salmon can be really fun. That's when the streams are full of the returning Pink Salmon!
