O'Reilly's Rainforest - Gold Coast Hinterland About 30 minute drive inland from Surfers paradise is another paradise well worth visiting. Walk through the rainforests, stop for a meat pie or scone and tea at one of the homesteads along the road. Or go swimming at the Natural Arch where you can jump through a hole in the rock into a cave full of glowworms. **Honestly I wouldn't suggest jumping through the roof of it. You can swim in as well as there is a path that takes you around to the entrance. *****Alot of people have been seriously injured jumping for reasons you'll see when you get there***
BONUS BONUS - this is all FREE. No money hungry tourist robbing a-holes with their hands out. No - you take your own lunch if you like, no entry fees. Go where you want..... Just PLEASE don't break any plants or leave ANY rubbish behind. This like alot of Australia is still wonderfully pristine and you get the feeling of being the only human around when you hike out to an outlook to scan the horizon - spotting Surfers Paradise, Stradbroke Island and hills as far as the eye can see to your sides, and an ever stretching ocean in front....... awesome stuff. Totally agree with no best town/city. I love Sydney & I'm lucky enough to have seen a lot of other beautiful, interesting etc cities & towns. Brissy isn't a bad place at all is it! Have to explore your fantastic general tip with my family one day soon. | halans Thu Jun 3, 2004 20:30 UTC
We loved O'Reillys! Such friendly people. We did two guided walks, and a night spot walk. Saw some of the most venomeous snakes on the track, hate to think what might have happened if we walked there without a guide! |
