My Family

by zweiblumen - last update: Mar 13, 2008

Rosie

Rosie

Rosie was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, she lived for a happy 12 yrs; which for her breed was quite old. Her "sister" Holly sadly died in 2001 aged 10. Rosie was a very affectionate dog and also a very greedy dog who despite her fear of Darwin would nevertheless try to push him out of the way to get at his food.

Sadly Rosie passed away on 23rd July 2003, I leave this picture here as a memory to her.

Chloe

Or "Tiny Clo" because she is such a small cat. Chloe was a semi feral cat that we obtained from the vets. She was very nervous and would hide under chairs or beds only venturing out for meals. She has grown into a very affectionate cat and a voracious hunter. Chloe liked Rosie, Rosie liked Chloe.

Darwin

Darwin turned up at my brother's house in Birmingham as a stray kitten and we adopted him. He is extremely mischievous, he likes to fight with Chloe who despite her diminutive size often gives as good as she gets. He also liked to do anything he could to annoy Rosie, Rosie did not like him and avoided him wherever possible. Darwin was totally oblivious to the fact that Rosie did not like him. Despite his size and his macho strutting he has the most pathetic squeaky miaow of any cat I have heard!

Sulley

Sulley

Sulley was the newest member of the family until the arrival of Sophie, he was up until early 2004 a neighbours cat. He would however keep walking into our house, he socialised with our cats and despite our attempts to get him to go home he moved in. Eventually he was officially signed over to us by his previous owners and became part of our family. Sulley was the youngest of our cats and he was the most inquisitive and acrobatic of the three. Whenever something went bump or crash in the night you could be sure that it was Sulley that did it!

Sadly Sulley went missing on the morning of 17th March 2005 was not seen again. I still keep listening out for the jingling of his collar in the forlorn hope that he may one day return

Sophie

The latest addition to my menagerie. Sophie is a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and joined my household on 28th December 2004. Sophie is an unruly, disobedient and exhausting dog to live with. She is the type of dog that demands attention all the time and when she doesn't get it she misbehaves. She chases the cats (although Darwin stands his ground, growls, hisses and swipes at her she still doesn't seem to get the message! Poor Chloe is terrified of Sophie who tries to chase her almost everytime she sees her) she chews everything she can find, she steals clothes, she rips up paper and eats the plants in the garden. She drives me mad sometimes but I am persevering in the hope that she will grow out of it!

The young zweiblumen

And this is me!

I think I was seven or eight years old when this was taken. There I proudly stand next to my first ever bike having just run over my first dog Tiny! ;-)

No .. don't worry I didn't really run her over (as if I would!) she was lying there chewing a piece of wood she'd found in the garden.

Walking the dog

My mother takes Sophie for a gallop, New Year's Day 2008.
