Details of Disneyland - Tokyo

by A2002 - last update: Oct 13, 2002

Adventure Land.

Getting There.

Take a JR train to Maihama station. From the station, you can either walk to the entrance or take a monorail. There's a monorail pass for a day too. Majority of the visitors will walk there. The walk is quite pleasant if it is not raining. We took half an hour to walk there becos we stop along the way for photo taking and souvenir shopping. :-)

At Maihama station, turn left is Disney Sea, turn right is Disneyland. I did not see any sign at the station, so was a bit lost until we found the helpful information center on the left of the station. The staffs at the information center can speak good English, and information in English has to be requested.
Founder of Disneyland.

Tickets (Disneyland Passport)

We bought the passport at the entrance of the Disneyland for JPY5,500 per person for 1 day. On the official website, it was stated that only JCB credit cards are accepted becos JCB is their main sponsor. However, Visa card was accepted when we asked at the ticketing counter. Lucky us!

Maps and information in English are available at the ticketing counter. However, it seems to me that the Japanese version is much better with lotsa details on the restaurants within the park.
Let's pose.

Queues for Rides.

On the map, rides that has "fast pass" are clearly stated. But there's no information on how to get a "fast-pass". :-( Perhaps the details are in the leaflets in Japanese.
Usually, there's very long queue for almost every ride. There are signs such as "20 minutes from this point" which I think it is an underestimate. At least double that figure!
It's a small world!

Fast-pass (FP).

The "fast-pass" are free. You just need to go to somewhere near the rides that you want to get a fast-pass with your passport (ticket). Go there and see the time that fast pass is available at that point in time.

You better get a fast-pass and maybe can forget about wasting time queueing without a FP for those rides with FP. We did not know where and how to get the FP, so we queued at one ride that has fast-pass available. We wasted about 2 hrs in the queue. People with fast pass will be given priority for the rides. Priority means clear all FP holders before clearing people in the normal queue.

After getting your fast-pass, enjoy roaming around Disneyland or queue for another ride without fast pass. Go back to that ride at the time indicated on your pass. There will also be a time stamped on the ticket telling you what time you can get your next FP.
Float Parade - Winnie the Pooh!

Information on Special Programs.

We did not get any information on the special programs on that day in Disneyland on any brochure. It is not available anywhere in the park. Or perhaps the park is so big that we do not where to look for. Luckily we got lost at Maihama station and went to the information center where we get the timetable for the special programs in English.
Donald's Super Splash!

Disney Super Splash.

Another special float parade. Be ready to get wet, real wet if you are in front! But it doesn't matter on a hot sunny day like this, is it?
A restaurant.

Food and Drinks.

Anything with Winnie The Pooh containers have the longest queue.
For dining at the restaurants, go to the particular restaurant that you want and get a pass for the time allocated. Then go to the restaurant at the time of your pass.
There are also several take-away stalls around the park. Queue, queue, queue... Luckily credit cards are accepted, except those trolley like stalls, selling popcorn or drinks. I wanted to try Japanese food, but not did not find any stalls selling Bento in the park.
Float Parade - Dream Lights.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention, we did not manage to get a fast pass for the Winnie-The-Pooh ride. There were sold out!
