Lady In Red!!

My birthplace, a Spa Town.

Scarborough was quite widely known as the Victorian Spa Town. The visitors from this period believed the Spa Water had healing properties, today it is a busy tourist hot spot on the East Coast of Britain 65 miles from Leeds (my hometown).
The coastline around Scarborough and the surrounding area is very rugged, and a pleasure to visit. If you go inland there are some very quaint villages between Scarborough and Leeds.
Also the Dales and Moors of Yorkshire are well worth visitng; particually if you like hiking. The three Peaks in Ingleton are good hiking places.
The picture you see is my elder sister Elaine on the promenade, on the Northside, with Scarboriugh Castle, on the hill behind her.
The Rotunda Museum.

The Rotunda Museum

This is a local history museum in Scarbourough, where you will be able to find out about the Viking Invasion through to WW1 & WW2 plus beyond and the effect on Scarborough.
On the seafront near the Harbour is the Millenium Experience which also shows the effects invasions had on Scarborough this is good for the children.
The picture you see is my little sister Hazel with her two boys, and our Brother -in - law Mike. They are outside the Rotunda Museum on the Southside of Scarborough near the Spa Complex.
Sealife Centre

The Scarborough Sealife Centre.

Another place great for th kids is the Sealife Centre. It has touch pools, a walk through aquarium and pools outside for rescued seals.
The building is a fascinating structure made up of pyramids, suppossabably plending in with the surrounding area. I think they missed the mark some-how when you take a look at the picture.
This is on the Northside of Scarborough.
Peasholme Gap

Peasholme Gap, Scarborough

This is the Northside of Scarborough,My favourite side, unspoilt with amusement arcades not like the Southside. This picture was taken from the carpark which is outside the indoor pool. Great for the kids, this pool has inflatables and wave machine.
Follow the road down towards the seafront, on your right going down the hill is Peasholme Park, where during the summer weeks you can watch the Naval Warfare, miniture boats doing battle across the lake.
Cross the road and head towards the beach and on your left is Atlantia the out door pool with slides, another great place for kids.
Head for the carpark and turn left up Burniston Road and a short distance up the road you come to Kinderland on your right. Theres the watersplash, climbing frames and slides plus more for kids of all ages.
