Palaces

by acemj - last update: Mar 9, 2002

Ca' d'Oro

Venetian Gothic masterpiece. Inside, there's an art gallery (Galleria Franchetti), but I didn't have time to go. It includes works by Titian, Carpaccio and Mantegna.

Ca' Pesaro

The facade of this palace wraps around away from the Grand Canal and curves right into a smaller, adjoining canal. It was designed by Longhena in the Baroque style.
Inside you'll find The Museum of Oriental Art and the Museum of Modern Art.

Ca' Barzizza

12th century Byzantine! This palace is old!

Ca' Grimani

Built by Sanmicheli in 1556.

Palazzo Dario

This palace is near the Guggenheim Museum. The facade is from the late 15th century, but the building is much older.
The history of this palace is scandalous to say the least and it is believed by many that there is a curse to whomever owns it.

Ca' Minelli

Famous for its magical, winding staircase.

Your pictures and comments show how much you fell under the spell of this magical city- even on a dull day; we had that too.

Fabulous page on Venezia! It was just two weeks ago that I was there but it seems like forever ago and yesterday, all at once. I agree -- I love getting lost in Venice.
