Amon Carter Museum

by keeweechic - last update: Jun 5, 2005

Amon G. Carter’s personal collection of sculpture included over 100 works by Remington and Russell in materials ranging from bronze to wax and plaster.
Other sculptors represented in the collection now include Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Elie Nadelman, Robert Laurent, and Bessie Potter Vonnoh.
The museum features galleries which are devoted to the works of Remington and Russell. There are rooms which also feature views of the West by artists such as John Mix Stanley, Albert Bierstadt in the nineteenth century through to Georgia O’Keeffe’s most memorable New Mexico paintings of the twentieth century.

Frederic Remington

Frederic Remington was born in Canton, NY in 1861. He is credited as being the primary image maker of the historic west. His bronzes are a landmark in the history of bronze casting in both form and subject matter.

Remington's paintings and sculptures are owned by museums and private collectors throughout the world.

Looking out over the lobby area from the upper floor, you can get a wonderful view of Ft Worth. Better on a sunny day of course.

Happy birthday!! Another year gone but it looks as if you do keep excellent records of how each of them went.

Now that we've moved to the Dallas area, we'll be stopping by Ft. Worth--we're anxious to see this "Cow Town". Thanks for the tips...are you still in the area?
