| | everything is new and different. This is a termitehill (and us).
The first days we stayed with my cousin and his wife in Ndola. I felt as if I was arrived in a world, that was very different from home in the Netherlands. The water had to be cooked first, before it came in bottles on our room. The sun went down at appr. 6.00 PM and after that is was soon dark without twilight. Flowers that I had never seen, birds with all sorts of funny songs. The second day we drove to my cousins' farm, near the Kafue River. On the red sandy road people were carrying anything and everybody was walking. They waved friendly when we passed and we tried to make as less dust as possible. And everywhere was the smell of wood fires. They made charcoal to sell for a living. It was forbidden: to spare the trees, but everyone did it. |
| | on the red sandy road On the road to the farm we saw some boys with an ox-cart. They all liked very much to be on the photo, so they called their friends (wherefrom, we saw no village). They laughed and waved. |
| | But I wonder, why that man on the right wears a warm coat. |
