The famous 17-mile drive is a private road, the owner is the Pebble Beach Company. So you pay a fee of $7.75 at one of the 5 entrances and you can stay during daylight hours. You can drive, take your bike, or walk along this road. Best time in the morning or in the late afternoon. And not in a weekend. There were not many tourists in October. Try to avoid the busses. Lone Cypress may be the most photographed tree in the world, but when you actually see 60 people making the same picture.... When you drive slowly and enjoy the scenery in your own pace there is a lot to see. The ocean with rocks and birds on one side, golfcourses and beautiful houses on the other. Houses with a view! And many golfcourses. With some luck you see a herd of deer crossing the green grass. And a sea lion sleeping on a rock. |
