This old city, in the department Yonne, was built on a granite rock on the river Cousin. It is a lovely place, with old houses and churches. Walk over the city walls and see the panorama. In the Middle Ages a military important entrance to the Bourgogne, still the start of a trip through the Morvan, to interesting nearby towns like Vézelay with its wonderful basilica Ste-Madeleine.

The campground "Sous Roche" is about 10 min. walking from the town. A quiet, "basic", campground. When I was there, in spring or fall, there were always many Dutchmen on their way to the sun, sometimes to Portugal or Spain.

I tried to play boule some times ago - very interesting game. Very nice page with good tips and photos. The Loire Valley is very high on my travel wish list.
