The "Municipal House" stands on the edge of the old town, right next to...(see next image)
Yes, next to the "Powder Tower". The tower, 65 metres tall, was begun in 1475 as one of Staré Mĕsto's 13 gates. Being left unfinished, the tower was used as a gunpowder magazine in the 18th century, whence the name.
The Rudolfinum, named after emperor Rudolf II - home of the Czech Philharmonic - stands in Jan Palach Square on the bank of the Vltava river.
The Old Town Hall, standing in the Old Town Square, was founded in 1338. It houses one of Prague's most famous tourist attraction, namely the Astronomical Clock.
The Astronomical Clock at the Old Town Hall. The clock was built at 1410 and was improved in 1490. Legend claims that the clockmaster has been blinded so he couldn't duplicate the clock anywhere else. The clockmaster, as a revenge, crawled into the clock and disabled it.
A less conventional look of the astronomical clock. This is an inside view of the clock. The saints figures, shown here, appear every hour to the crowd in the square.
The Old Town Hall - founded in 1338 - is actually a row of buildings, gradually assembled over the years.
A traditional blacksmith, right next to the town hall.
The town hall tower is a perfect place for spectacular views of the square. In the centre of the square stands the statue of Jan Hus (see more below).
A view of St. Nicholas church.
A view of the Church of Our Lady before Týn (see more below).
The statue of Jan Hus in Old Town Square. The statue was unveiled in July 1915, the 500th anniversary of Hus's death at the stake.
Goltz-Kinský Palace at Old Town Sqaure. In this palace - where there is a book store today - was Franz Kafka's father shop. Kafka himself studied in the Old Town State Gymnasium, on the second floor of the palace. Right to the palace is House at the Stone Bell.
St. Nicholas church.
Church of Our Lady before Týn, one of most prominent features of Old Town Square. The height of the church towers is just over 80 metres. Do not miss the view of the church at night. The illumination is magnificent. The four storey building in front of the church is Týn School.
Right next to the old town square you will find Havelská Market - named after St. Gall. This open-air market dates back to 1232.
This square's names translates to little square. It's right behind the town hall complex. The red building in the middle is Röth Building.
Besides all the "certified" tourist attractions, the old town is full with picturesque houses. Just walk around and have a good look. Each and every house is decorated with fine details.
One of many puppet theatres in Prague. Notice the Don Giovanni sign. Mozart spent a lot of time in Prague - where he was much more appreciated than his native Austria - and this is where the première of Don Giovanni took place.

Try to travel with your back to the wall on the TRAM . I was approached by a team of 5-6 people and they try to surround you with a small fake crowd and jostle you while they suss out where your valuables are and ho to get at them.
